Title: Washing Machine
Post by: Vamps on 03 March 2010, 22:36:54
Creda Simplicity 1000  Getting very noisy / rattly mid speed ie getting up to speed and coming back down again.
How easy is it to change the bearings? or is it best just to buy a new one..... :-/ :(

I bought a new one assuming that the failed bearing was in the drum.As I was removing the old machine, I had a look inside the back - cover already removed - flipped the drive belt off & it was obvious that the motor bearing had failed!  :-? My parents ended up with a 'new' washer after I took the motor into work & replaced the bearings from stores!  ::)  ::)  ::)

Possibly, about £300 would get something decent but the bearing kit is only £22........ :-/

But is it worth the efort, what if it was not so simple and we can not be without a washer, it gets hammered...... :)

Depends on the machine. Some have a bearing carrier in the back of the outer drum so you can just pull them out of the back. Ours required the two halves of the outer drum splitting = machine basically stripped down to its component parts and reassembled. Took the best part of a day. Next time it'll have a very short journey in my trailer to the tip. >:(

it may be the internal "spider" cracked - very common best to strip it down to check- pm me for the process tony.

My Bosch machine was suffering from this too - it was really noisy! Just bought a new LG direct drive machine and what a difference - on full speed spin (1400rpm) you can hardly hear it, amazing piece of kit.

If you can measure the bearings accurately have a look on site such as bearing boys you will be able to get them a lot cheaper than oridginal

That is depending on washing machine if you want to buy a new one or replace some part. You think that is the cause of very noisy every time you use your washing machine. Depend on how much it cost that kind of part then the life span of the part you replace in the washing machine.
