Title: virgin conections

cant conect to my sisters virgin broafband for some reason and the o2 dongle wont conect up well here. any ideas about virgin problem please. cant handle no more tv

ethernet.we tried 2 laptops and to re configure it but no conection. last time i was here it worked by just puttin lead in and it conected.

there should be 2 lights on the modem sinc and ready they should be on all the time ethernet should light when you connect the cable if these are on
try unplugging the modem from the wall wait 30 secs then plug it back in this normally sorts most problems

tried all that. 3 lights on. send an receive flas but just get page cant be displayed everytime.

are you connecting wireless or wired?
if wireless, switch off router and modem, then power modem on first then the router :y

It's probably due to Virgin themselves Richie! ::) ::) ::)

All I hear from people around me is that they are bloody useless.

...................mind you although TalkTalk have a bad reputation as well, I got talking for 2.5 hours to a  lovely chap with that company whilst sorting out a friends Broadband, with new IP, password, codes verification, wireless verification codes, having to be entered by me to connect the blessed thing as TalkTalk had not done all that when my friends telephone number was changed! ::) ::) ::) ::)  His name was Mohammed and he was about the only thing good about it all! ;)

Strange?? I'm with Virgin, and have had not a problem since we had them (almost 4 years now)...Even when my broadband router went 'belly up' they sorted it out the following day, having spent 30 mins on phone (got straight though, as well!!) running diags, etc. Said 'router was 'ducked' and would get it replaced asap. Following morning engineer came, checked router, swapped for new, tested and left working great...Also checked the Digibox as well seeings he was there, and replaced that with newer model as 'it was on it's way out' he said.

Can't moan at service like that !!! :y

Check Virgins website for service problems...just noted that some areas are experiencing problems due to the weather...might just explain it  :-/

must be virgin. even mjy sisters having trouble on hers as well. cant believe how bad O2 is on the dongle, absolute waste of time and money. i'm going home tomorrow so can get back on my own one, no trouble at all with 3 network.

have a look at fire wall settings, also are you trying to use it in the wall(box) or another PC, if another pc then that pc has to be set to allow you laptop in to use it personal net setting.
