Title: A Good days work..................................
Post by: Sixstring on 01 January 2011, 11:35:32
Well, yesterday was a "red letter day" for my 3.0 estate.

Tore it to bits for a winter "service" witha difference.

BOTH head gaskets, clean heads and piston tops,  all plenums, breathers, and throttle body clean and polish.

HBV, temperature sender, thermostat (******* bolt!), and flush all the engine and heater matrix well.

Coil pack, new leads, oil and filter, plugs, and air cleaner element.

Check and regrease wheel bearings where needed.

Started 0800, finished 1740, (with additional help from my Dad who did most of the cleaning, polishing, and decoking)

Car runs superbly now, and will last me for the next 30k before I have to sell it to get a F/L estate with fewer miles on it, (mine has just gone over 170k, and it gets a really hard time in my business, home to liverpool, london, manchester, derby etc etc etc, sometimes 3k a week if really bad week.

When it reaches 200k it will have done 100k for me in 16 months of ownership, something I am really happy about, its been a superb car for me, and I will happily have another if its as good as this one has been for me.

I can't really see any other car that could do this kind of abuse and still be in great nick, and look like and drive like a sub 100k car even now.

Well done VX for a great vehicle. ;D

Didn't go out last night to see the new year in................knackered, but happy. Car had a real birthday present, I got to sleep in until 1030am this morning.......bliss!

Most productive days work I've done on a car in a long while.
