Bought some chips tonight to go with tea.
Decided not to due to 50p rise in price £2 to £2.50.
Chinese are 85p cheaper for a similar amount.
And they saw us go into the Chinese.
IDIOTS >:( >:(

That is expensive, and the increase is certainly way above the 2.5% VAT increase!! :o :o :o :o

My local chippy I get mini fish(about half the size of a normal fish), chips, sausage and curry sauce or mushy peas for £2.60

That's dear :o Mind you, my local shop put a £1.30 drink up 5p I nearly had a heart attack, thats gone up way more than it should've >:(

I've discected Dogfish & would never eat Rock Salmon now that I've seen the number of nematode worms that ramnify through their tissues - enjoy! ;D

I don't use chippies much nowadays but 22/23 years ago when i was driving a 7.5tonner down south, on the a259 @ Pevensey (Between Eastbourne & Bexhill) there was a chippy that did a "Beano" for a £1. A Beano was a meat fritter & beans between two slices of bread & the whole lot was battered & deep fried. You did'nt need chips!
I was young & active back then, had a 30inch waist & weighed 10 or 11 stone...REALLY! No more Beanos for me. :(

I've discected Dogfish & would never eat Rock Salmon now that I've seen the number of nematode worms that ramnify through their tissues - enjoy! ;D
Don't worry too much about them they are destroyed during either cooking or freezing. Just think of them as additional protein! ;D ;)

I owned a chippie in the late 80's
32.p for chips
60p for cod (4oz) greeks were £1.05 for 7oz haddock You do the sums
20p small peas/curry/gravy/beans
30p for a large tub
80p for 6oz chicken porttion
50p for a pie
£1.14 For fish/chips and peas on a tray to walk home with.

and the Cost of Fish is stupid

Silly money turnover but less proffits than the 80's
Blamit it and a lot of the pub's shutting down to long opening hours and pubs doing food.
Plus supermarkets undercutting and the duty free changing to stop the chea[ van imports.
