My real love is the first 2 door V8 carb Rangie. As for the new ones yeah, the biggest petrol engined highest spec, (Vogue SE)?
What i don't get is the footballers choice, the so called sport. WHY? It won't handle like a sportscar & it won't off road like a proper Rangie so what's the point? :-?

strangely enough my all time fav is the p.38 dhse!! used to deliver them when first came out and have looked after a few for friends, if i could find one with a blown td engine think i would fit my engine in it and use it daily!!!
know all about supposed electrical probs etc but i like the look and the way they drive once again it would have to be a manual though none of your sludgepumps unless it was exceedingly cheap!! ;D

Nice! 8-)

have u seen the crazy stuff Overfinch can do with a range rover? why cant people leave perfection alone???
-
Wont say I'm in love with them but do drive them regularly up and down the country.
Like the supercharged RR, quick on its toes and you can quickly get used to its handling through the twisties. It will never be a 2 door sports coupe or a light as buggarry kit car but, for nigh on 3 tonnes, it does make a good case for itself.
For getting down and dirty, the limited factory build LR90 with the (4.4?) V8 takes a bit of beating. I like that one.... ;D

love the shape of those but the chav bells n whistles just make u look like an idiot!!!
that rivals the escalade for pimp-worthy
-
I've had a SIIA, old dear has a freebie, and drove Classic Vogue, P38 models (4.6HSE's, what a complete beasty) as well as Discos in my job for over 6 years. Guess that makes me a bit of a LR fan!
I think I would like a Classic the most but the current Rangie shape is beautiful and they're still about the only car with which you really can do the muddy-hilliside-then-a-night-at-the-opera sort of thing.
-
If I won the lottery, I'd want a big-engined, top-spec large version (not sport) of a Range Rover, I love 'em. Never had the chance to have a go of one unfortunately :-[
-
few things here....
The latest-shape Range Rovers are getting really cheap now- I've seen them down to less than £9K, but you'd probably have to put up with diesel for that.
And yes, I'd avoid the "Overfinch" sort of mods, too. Changing the looks of a vehicle should be punishable by instant death in my opinion.
Overfinch have gone ( or more strictly went ) from "proper" mods, such as the Jag V12-powered Range Rover to nothing more than painted bumpers and grilles. Mind you, it's served them right because Doncaster Court has just wound them up !
I'm currently building a Classic Range Rover for me - have found the perfect car - a very late "soft-dash" car with no air-con, no sun roof and ABS without traction control. and it was £80, too. Haven't chosen an engine yet.
Have got a "spares" car, too if anyone wants any parts
-
Overfinch used to be based near me and I'd often see them "testing" on the A31. Naturally, I embarrassed them whenever possible. Normally in the Westfield. The Omega wasn't always up to it. ;)
There is enough of the "footballer's wife" about the current Range Rovers without tarting them up even more, IMHO. ;)

The old Land Rover had a defined purpose as an unpretentious workhorse...... However....the RR tends to appeal to wealthy undesirables....and ladies who lunch in Kensington and Chelsea....I believe Jordan has one.....nuff said. :-/ :-/
-
a newish Rangie sounds nice to me and the budget says you cant buy even its wheels and tires ;D add to that I'm fed up of paying bank credits.. >:(
but if I was rich to buy, pay fuel costs for long distance off roads for weekends , and had a garage to keep that expensive thingy , I would consider one.. ;D
and one final note.. I dont wanna pay the repair bills of somebody elses old junk any more >:( >:(
-
Yes, I do like the Range Rover, and the Discovery and the Freelander!
IIRC wasn't it a RR Sport they had on Top Gear in a challenge against the Challenger II tank? JC seemed to think that, despite it's bling appearance it actually performed quite well. Just not enough to make it more desirable to normal people that the normal RR.
I'd quite like the Freelander TDV6 (now waiting to be shot down in flames :) )
-
Yes, a nice final run 4.2 LSE in a good colour deviod of 'enhancements' would hit the spot quite nicely thank you.
Should anyone wish to force me to take a chance with a late 4.6 P38 - I could be persuaded.
-
Not sure I could be persuaded to take any chance with a P38 - not even at gunpoint.

;D ;D I've lived dangerously for some time now Woody. ;D :y
-
I'm going to get a newer shape when I change my P38.

Mate chopped in his 93 4.2 LSE for an 02 plate new shape and it is a fantastic car/jeep,the LSE was a brilliant truck but the new one is even better.

I had one about 8 years ago but it wasn't the soft dash and it was Mosswood Green with a Brooklands body kit :y
