--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The OPEL omega V8 is the fastest OPEL, which was ever built - that first times as introductory sentence over a outstanding driving experience, which I had enjoyed in July 2000. When trainee with the Adam OPEL AG I was allowed to ride along in the final phase of the development of the V8 some hours in this car, both on the motorway and on the highway.
Which concerns the optics of the vehicle, it gives to say not much, since it orients itself nearly by hundred percent at that of the “normal” omega (up to marginal note changes in the radiator grille range, e.g.)
The engine would be allowed to do car Freaks already longer time admits to be, because it originates from the Corvette and develops also a nearly just as large achievement, i.e. approx. 315 HP. Kraft to a standard 4-Stufen-Automatik one transfers; thus the car reaches easy 250 km/h, where it abregelt then. The engine proves as very passage strong and co-operates with the mechanism very well. The four courses are completely sufficient, since also the third course is translated already relatively for a long time (it switches with approx. 225 km/h and over 5.500 UPM into the fourth course). Nevertheless the car is not exaggerated sporty; it has a chassis co-ordinated with the achievement, which is pleasantly comfortable, although in addition, joy prepares for sportily ambitionierten drivers.
These omegas is the flagship of all OPEL models and can easy with competitors like BMW the 535i or Mercedes E 420 keep up, not least because of a price, which will be appropriate for at least 10,000 DM below the German competitors. From it no German vehicle a capacity of 5,7 litres - which gets OPELs again such Superlativ awarded, refrained certainly to surprise, some.
But this car earns evenly the Bestnote of 5 stars, because it is a very balanced and matured sport sedan of the upper middle class, about which there are not many.

Quick answer NO. :'(
Year 2001
Opel Omega V8
5.7L
16 Valve
310 BHP @ 5600 RPM
330 (447.5 nm) @ 4400 RPM
5 Speed Manual
It was a 5.7L Northstar V8 engine introduced in 2001 but was cancelled weeks before the official launch, the reasons were whether the engine was (FULL THROTTLE RESISTANT) The engine might overheat and be damaged if driven flat out.
That was the end of that.

yes, yes, yes, been covered soooo many times here before. It nearly made production, but was pulled, alledgely for cooling issues under extreme circumstances. TIS is full of info, thats how close it was.
But it never did and never will make it to production.
