Title: If true...
Post by: Nickbat on 28 January 2011, 10:41:06
...then I despair

...constables and PCSOs have been banned from keeping the peace at an adventure playground at night because it is considered dark and dangerous.

Yes, and there was no talk of H&S when I was with Kent Police officers walking around a very dark field at 0200 one morning looking for rustlers!  And no we never found them, although the sheep were altogether in a group ready to go somewhere! :D :D :D ;)

For the rest of the shift we were laughing about what the men were really doing with the sheep!! :D :D

They used to .... and not very good ones .. :)

When I was travelling back and forward to the States in the 70's & 80's I was regularly asked to bring back rather large Maglites for police friends (my brother was a policeman) .. they were not available in the Uk then and I believe they doubled up as "unofficial truncheons" ....  especially the 6 "D" cell versions  :)

Yup, hold them at shoulder level, next to your face (not stretched out in front of you)

Someone attempts to grab you, its perfectly placed to come down and wack them  :D

Yes, I saw this item on the BBC news this morning.

Afterwards I couldn't make up my mind whether there was an ulterior motive e.g. to get the council to put lights in the park (which looked really nice) or whether it was elf and safety gone mad. The park was inhabited after dark with hoodies, druggies and drinkies. Whatever happened to youth clubs?!

I think they still exist.. but they're not likely to go unless youth clubs start handing out smack  ;D
