ahem you may see the last poster on this question as yours truly. In my defence only trying to help out a future forum member. ::)
i have seen a metro that a little old lady had continually poured oil into engine every day. Not starting it though. When eventually the thing started with a tow pull by a large 4x4 the slick behind the car was something to behold. The engine fired and then let go as the hydraulic effect took over. The crank came out of the side of the engine block.
Another know it all came round to my friends garage with a tail of woe. His Volvo would not start. He said that he had done a complete engine overhaul and service. When we looked at the engine he had filled up with oil until it was coming out of the top of the dip stick. Seems he had lost the original dip stick so thought it would be better to be safe than sorry with extra oil being fitted. Unfortunately he got away with his mistake. :'( :'(

Dave, I sincerely think it's great that you are trying to help future forum members. Each of these links contain responses that I personally do not think match the quality of the assistance available on OOF. (How diplomatic is that? ;). My favourite is the chap that stripped down his bonnet sensor to stop it going off in sunny weather! ;D
The last link is great. I would hazard a guess that English is not the poster's mother-tongue! ;D. Hats off to the chap who replied..he figure it out!
