being as we are in the mood for complaining...
i just banged off an email to bp customer care.
why?
i have a tyre inflator in the garage but never remember untill i fuel up and see the air machine.
i hate paying 20p, but for the convenience what the hell.
so why am i moaning?
20p for 2 minutes! no free pressure check.
i a highly efficient manor i still only managed three tyres which we not exactly flat.
cost me another 20p for the front on 18psi.
glad i did as im off down the m6 tomorrow.
someone else might not have thou....

It's bloody 50p here :(
I feel your pain..

problem is maintenance costs, they are seriously abused so always had to have people out to fix them.

We used to pinch them (much younger then) and sell them until the pay for air machines came in :D :D ;D ;D

yep - Shell's 50p here, Jets 20p and BP's 20p - the BP one never seems to be calibrated compared to the others tho - anyway i use Sainsburys its free - and i'm tight :y
-
.... a small compressor in the garage, runs air tools as well obviously. Haven't used forcourt air for years.

if it is more than half a mile further to go thou you will be out of pocket in a 3.0 mig...
-
I think it should be against the law to charge for inflation of tyres. It is a vital safety issue.
I have a compressor and airline at work and use my own digital gauge to hopefully ensure accuracy.

Almost bought one on a number of occasions, could never justify it for tyres along. £100 would take long time to pay off at 20p a go!
-
sainsburys near me its free......but they still wont sell me a knife ;D ;D ;D
-
Had a good lauagh at this a few months ago..... stopped in at Southwaite services, at the counter there was a notice selloptaped to the counter so customer could read it re the air line...... "cost of use of air line has been increased (to £1!) but this gives you 4 minutes, these cost have been raised due to inflation" The staff hadnt even noticed what the notice said.....

Well obviously so if taking that view, I didn't buy it for pressures alone. However it is far more convenient to have it at home running three cars. But if you want to take 3 cars to the nearest garage each time fire away. ESP when her polo tyres have corroded rims leaking air. It would take more trips to the garage for air than fuel given the infrequent short trips it gets. There by costing fuel and more time as well as 20p! :P

Plus being a stubborn bugger, I would rather pay for my own compressor than pay bp for fresh rather air the cheeky bastids! >:(

I'm of the same opinion and bought a compressor for that purpose - the bonus is that it has proved very handy for other things.

It will be a cold day in hell before I pay to put air in my tyres. Fortunately they are all free over here (might not be in the cities).
Must run in the family as my mother refuses to put her own petrol in the car so only uses attendant service stations. Bet you didn't know they still exist in England!
-
some at tesco's are 20p but for a £1 you get 4lt of screenwash and your tyres pumped up...

Around here I think BP are the only ones who charge 20p for some air which I think is unreal 20p for air, I mean air twenty pence, I'd rather jump off the motorway bridge than pay twenty pence for air I think it's disgusting. Anyway I use Sainsburys as it's free :)
-
its free here.. :)
-
compressor here, easy done, failing that, footpump :y
knowing how the garages are, the 1-2 occasions in the dim and distant past ive used em....its all tyre valves off, and then round as fast as poss.

Every home mechanic should have a compressor, they are cheap as chips these days, apart from inflating tyres a blowgun for dispensing a jet of air is invaluble when working on or cleaning cars :y

agreed .. lots of use.. cleaning the pcs, sanding some home furniture, painting etc.. (must warn you tough, 50 lt is not adequate for painting causes pressure drop and you need to wait :()

must say mine came in VERY handy today when servicing the dyson, works very well to blow the crap out

Thats the main use of mine, as well as tyre pressures for 5 (family) cars and 2 motorbikes.
Once you get used to an airgun for cleaning, it really comes into its own, numerous times, TBH.

and yet no one has mentioned blow jobs? so I wont, ::)
I have a compressor at home, but keep a small one in the car too.
