Budget quoted me £346.12 renewal. A friends recomendation came in at £409. Swiftcover were £389. Swinton were £439 with £150 cashback after 3 months so £279 Don't like gimmicks.
Best overall price & terms is Asda @ £313.75. All quotes were TPFT. Any more you think i should try? Not Admiral or Adrian Flux thankyou.
P.S. I nearly spat coffee all over the keypad when after being told her quote was'nt close the girl from Swinton said, "hang on & i'll just pop it in again for you"!!!! :o :P :-*

For the first time EVER, Fully Comprehensive policies have become cheaper than TPFT policies.
Insurance companies have statistics that people who take on Comprehensive Cover are more likely to take care of their vehicle and are less likely to have an accident.
Give it a go. :y

Direct Line have always come in consistantly cheaper for me. If you try online you can see the premuim alter as you fiddle with options and cover, and, yes, Fully comp sometimes comes in lower than TPF&T.

Found aviva were cheap this year but my wife is with the coop and they were cheap, And yep f/comp in some cases is cheaper than tpft. :y

Direct fricking rip off...£649 TPFT????? Where have you been looking if they're your cheapest? No wonder the spend on telly ads saying they're not on any comparison website, i can see why.
Frick that for a game of soldiers! ::)

mate tesco do everything from sim cards to car insurance and from broadband to personal loans!!!!
my feelings are that they can offer good service (in terms of low prices) due to them having so many fingers in so many pies.
however, going on my personal experience theyre efficient. i changed from TPFT to fully comp about a month after i bought the car. no long wait. 2 minute phone call. new certificate/schedule the next day!!!!!
but as i said they charged me more this renewal (about a tenner a month) so as long as youre not a lazy butt like me shop around :) :) :) :) :)
ps dont bother ringing them...get a quote online :y :y :y :y

Oh yes, Webby, I like that one --- 'fraid mine's just a bog standard Fabia Sdi. TBH it hasn't missed a beat mechanically -- just my particular production run is plagued with niggling problems (mainly electrical in nature). I'll forgiv it a lot for cheap insurance, 55 to the gallon around town and £90 per annum tax :) I only bought it as a fill in but got usd to driving PAST garages rather than pulling in to every other one to fill up !

Found aviva were cheap this year but my wife is with the coop and they were cheap, And yep f/comp in some cases is cheaper than tpft. :y
I'm with aviva at the moment, but NEVER again they are the most incompetent, unreliable bunch of tossers I have ever dealt with in 30 years of insuring motor vehicles, next time I am going back to direct line :y

Direct Line wanted over double my cheapest quote. It's only a £1000 car so need to quibble over minor details, why pay so much? :o
-
Just phoned Budget (who i'm with now) to tell them not to renew & they came in £277. Only a £36 saving but it's my £36!!!!. Hav'nt tried Tesco yet, i'll have a look shortly. :y
-
when i first went to tesco it was from an online quote a woman did at work and at home i didnt have internet so i rang them to take out the cover and it was gonna cost me more so i had to go to the mother outlaws to borrow her pc to get the cover
-
I went with Aviva this year, for the first time. £300 fully comp (3 points &LPG ).
Always found Direct line hideously expensive.
-
Try these people Guy:
http://www.motorandhomedirect.co.uk/CarInsurance/CarInsuranceHome.aspx
Just renewed our Caddy van with an Aviva policy through 'em, for £387 comprehensive with unlimited mileage on a 'Private use only' basis.
The exact same policy with Adrian Flux was £639 >:(
-
I've heard of f/comp being cheaper but hav'nt found it yet. Looked on Tesco comparison site, no real savings to be made so i'll stay with Budget this year @ £277.
Out of interest, Quinn Direct wanted the neck end of £1400!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o. I've also heard they're not on the database so your car comes up as uninsured so the boys in blue would want to crush it! :'(
