Title: Paypal Limits?
Post by: davethediver on 08 February 2011, 22:06:53
Is there an upper limit as to a paypal transaction?

A friend of mine has there own business and wants to be able to take credit card payments, has a business bank account but the bank won't give them a streamline machine to allow payments by card over the phone.

I suggested setting up a business paypal account but have to admit i don't know much about it. Average transaction would vary between 2-5K is this doable with paypal?

TIA Dave :)

The problem is the customers, not sure about business accounts, but personal limit is around £400. With the amounts you suggest the PayPal transaction fee of around 6% will be a sting in the tail  :o

But trouble is most customers with normal paypal accounts, won't be able send required amount

But can they not just use it via a credit card, eg i was to buy a car off someone on ebay for a grand and use paypal as a 'one off' but use my CC to pay for the transaction. :-?

accounts have to be verified on PP for large amounts, your better off embedding some credit card software. You don't need the banks steamline machine

Dont know why you were advised against, its a well respected and trusted way of collectng credit card payments. the only downside is you cant access your money immediately, they keep hold of it and and pay you at the end of the month, thats how they make their cut :y

I'm sure any clearing house will supply a pqd - I suspect he simply didn't like the setup and rental charges ;)
