Title: Parking ticket
Post by: Del Boy on 09 February 2011, 13:57:41
Got a parking ticket this morning outside my house, the registration number they've written down isn't mine, but they did get a picture of the van. Is there anyway out of this because the rego is wrong?

Think there is certainly room for an argument there. Unless he has put a E instead of an F or is it a completly different reg?

If it is id argue the case on the basis of conflicting information.

He's put E (looks like a C), but anyway he's put ET instead of EJ.

The details that must be correct on a PCN ticket are date, time of offence, location and registration for it to be valid. If the registration is wrong on the ticket the ticket is invalid. Contact the issuing authority and ask for the ticket to be cancelled, see what they got to say.

Mmmmm id still argue the fact that you have a ticket on your vehicle relating to another vehicles reg number.

Send the ticket back marked “invalid registration” and request a ticket with the correct registration. Absent mindedly send it without your name and address. ;)

it all depends on the the ticket updater, if they put the same reg number on your note, if not you get a bill in post with in 7-14days with full reg and amount but as far as i know you can park out side your house for up to 6hrs on single yellow line, but you would need the card form the council permitting it, dont cost anything.

I'd sit on it. They may look at the photo to check the registration; they may not. ;)

Del  , My understanding is if  the person issueing the ticket has made any sort of mistake  then it would not be worth the papwer its written on and would be thrown out of a court of law.... what you do is your choice

A parking ticket is a notification that the vehcile as indicated on the ticket has commited an offence.

If the registration number on the ticket is different from your car, irrespective about a photo ,they cannot uphold the case.

Simple...wrong details =invalid ticket.

Yep. If you flag it up to them, they might go and check the picture while it's still easily available. If you leave it until they start chasing, they'll find out the reg. no. is invalid, then the traffic warden will probably have emptied his memory card and it won't be worth their trouble looking through the recycle bin for the photo.  ;D

It's more likely some poor bemused sod at the opposite end of the Country with the same Reg as written by the traffic wardrobe will get the Ticket Notice & spend the next few months trying to convince Officialdom he's never heard of Ashford, let alone BEEN there! ;D ;D ;D ;D
