I was practically yelling at the radio this morning in the car with all their insipid love songs and babble about dates and how "love is in the air" and so on..

rather hate the day, personally. I've both been dumped on it, and started a new relationship (not the same year!) that cost me thousands of pounds and a lot of heartache.

It can go die in a fire as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly, you know when the time is right to be buying flowers (eg. when hoping for a bit of night time action)

You dont need every shop in town telling you its time to be romantic

Just another money spinning event spawned by commercialism designed to make us chaps feel guilty if we don't spend a bucket load of money on loved ones. If people really love each other it doesn't take money and gifts to create happiness. ::)

Alright, alright, I know I'm single but I was married once! ;)

Valentines is nothing more than a money grab for certain businesses.

I won't be going out for a meal, buying a card, or listening to the shite on the radio today!

No need to empty one's wallet, just a thoughtful gesture is required.  Whether it costs you money is upto you.  I have my wedding anniversary coming up (5th on the day of the meet  ::)) so my effort goes on that every Feb :y

For valentines, a card, a small pack of chocies and a homecooked meal with her favourites  :y

I thought I was in for a major slap this morning.  No card, no flowers, got no job so I can't afford them.  So I called and just said I might not have any money for all that stuff but it didn't mean I loved her any less.

I got out of jail with that line.  Just.  ;)

They're not happy with valentines day any more (retailers). With it being on a Monday, they knew most people wouldn't bother much so, in all the tv adverts I saw, it was 'valentines weekend'.
I got up with wifey at 6:30 this morning, we exchanged cards and kisses and that's enough for us.

SWMBO and I don't do Valentines, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Christmas... None of it. If one of us wants to treat the other we just do it, no matter when it is in the year :y :y

I wouldn't say I'm not romantic... Just don't need someone to tell me to be romantic :y
