Police believe the "organised" thieves would have used a tanker or large van with storage to transport the fuel.

Sherlock's obviously been on the case. Large van? :o f'ing huge van, more like. ;D

lol have seen the gypses vans with 700litre tanks in the back, a few of them would do it,
mate of mine filled his truck up on a saturday morning at services, dropped his fuel card when getting in the truck, by monday afternoon when he discovered the loss, he had a stop put on the card, believe it or not, in that short time there was 5000 plus worth of desel on the card in the two days it was missing, police caught the gypses with said vans!!

I knew a very dodgy bloke who was up to all sorts of things around Kent, including the stealing of diesel.  He was a lorry driver who had a fiddle going with diesel until his firm caught up with him.

He then graduated to using a Jeep with a very large tank in the rear to steal diesel from filling stations.  In fact in the back of this vehicle he even had a filling station fuel nozzle on a hose back to the tank to dispense fuel to those interested.  He got caught, then whilst on bail stole a large ocean going yacht and sailed it away from the UK, but managed to run aground abroad and simply walked away from it!! :o :o :o :o :o

A right dodgy character, and knowing his form I can imagine he could easily be involved in this theft using his HGV licence!! ::) ::) ::) >:( >:( >:(

You and I of course will pick up the bill for this, and all other fuel thefts, somehow >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

i wonder if they parked forward facing the till, closed the drivers door, removed any headwear and made eye contact with the cashier. oh, and had the correct number plates for the vehicle.

bet the tank was locked with a padlock from wilko.

It's a rapidly growing trend so someone is going to be at the head of the game.

I saw a clip on the news that said Rhinocerous horn is worth more than its weight in gold now.  Publicising that isn't going to help the animals now is it?

I'd say multiple vans where used so they could split the load, a single tanker could be easily found. 5 big transits could all go separate ways, nice little raid though, no one hurt, looks like it was done well.  :)
