Title: Touchscreen phone upgrade.
Post by: Amigo on 14 February 2011, 21:32:22
Nokia N8 will cost me another £10 a month.

Samsung galaxy will cost me another £15 so stuff those two.

On the £25 a month contract i'm on i can renew for 18 months & have a free...
   Sony XT10 mini.
   HTC wildfire
   Samsung Galaxy apollo
   Sony ER X8
   Samsung Monte
   L G optimus 1.
I could'nt care less which phone does what as i don't want to do it. I'm quite happy with my Nokia 6301.
So which do you think is the best one to sell on as an unwanted boxed unopened upgrade & how much should i ask for it? It wiil be locked to Orange.

Go SIM only, use the money that would have gone to a handset discounting the contract. I've since cancelled it as I have a company phone, but I got £15/m contract discounted to £5. > 150 mins, 150 txts, Unlimited internet not bad for a fiver!

What they're trying to say Guy is that if you tell them you'd rather keep your handset you should be able to get a discount :y

Do it as a theoretical at first as you might be better selling one of them on... But most providers will give quite a good discount if they aren't shelling out for a new handset ;) :y

No Paul. I want to keep the simple handset i've got & ebay the smartarse touchscreen...minus sim card of course.. as an unwanted upgrade. £150/200. I'm only paying £25 a month with the dongle as it is so best get a new free handset that i don't want & sell it! :y

Hi Guy

I think what they are saying is that you could probably get 10-15 a month off your contract which would save more than you can get by flogging a handset  :y

Just phoned Orange to enqire about sim only. I'll be knocked down to 300 minutes combined cross network/landline calls....not much i know but still enough for me, i hate phones, unlimited texts & the dongle knocked down from 1000 mb usage to 200, over the last 18 months i''ve averaged 172.

£12.21 per month all inclusive of vat. Is that any good?

They cannot justify 'knocking' down your minutes and data allowance, you will eat through 200mb in days if you use it in the truck.

Tell them you want what you have now, discounted. You don't want a phone, so they are saving money there. You want that money discounted against what you have in terms of contract now.

If they give you the run around, ask to speak to customer loyalty, tell them you will cancel. Its the layer above the standard drones that have the real power to discount your contract.

The above does not actually sound too bad if you keep your Gb of internet, keep fighting they will give in  :y
