Title: theiving twerps
Post by: bestie26 on 16 February 2011, 23:27:08
Got up this morning to find drivers door knackered and krook-lok smashed to bits on the combivan! >:( Found a 2" end of a screwdriver in the footwell that had snapped off obviously the tool they have used to try get the krook-lock off.
Really glad i use a krook lock and glad there scrwdriver broke  ;) otherwise i may have spent a day on the phone to police and insurance, didnt touch my cd player or the pack of 20 fags definatly wanted the van and doubt they wanted it to go joyriding in.Anyway got a full steering wheel lock on tonight , put it in the drive and disconected the battery so hopefully it will still be there in the morning.

How they thought they would get the van started is beyond me!

Knowing an ex-car thief, they target vehicles with crook locks as (if you know what you are doing), they make the vehicle easier to nick!

how comes they target ones with crook-locks? i have always thought of them as a deterrent ,what makes em easier to nick if they have a croock lock, you got me wondering now thinking maybe iam attracting attention rather than deterring people :o i did think at the time that they must know how to get the crook lock off otherwise why would you bother? personally for me if i saw the crook lock id move on to the next car without 1.
they could have got it started easy enough as when i bought it you could start it with screwdriver as my father in law had lost the keys .After putting in new barrel ect i realised how easy and quick it could be driven away ,i rekon even i (non car theif) could be in and away in 5 mins, never realised it was that easy

I used to be a thieving so & so 30 years ago (& paid for it) & agree with MDTM on  crooklocks. Obviously i won't post details here but you can have them off with no tools in as much time as it takes to use the key, i used to leave them on the back seat! That was along time ago, i've long since developed a sense of right & wrong & would'nt have a clue how to pinch a car now. Is yours a VW combi?
No i don't want to pinch it, honest! Guy. :y

no sorry i get the name wrong its the vauxhall COMBO van, always get mixed up ;D ive now got a big crook lock thing that covers the entire steering wheel , looks good but in reality am i just pissing in the wind trying to stop it from being nicked. There isnt the factory steering lock on it no more hence the reason for the detterent of the crook lock.
they smashed all the plastic on the old crook lock exposing the innards which they have then tried to prise away, got to admit i dont think they were far off had there screwdriver not snapped. does this sound like people who know what there doing or just a couple of chavs out for a laugh? With it been a van i wouldnt have thought it would be for a joyride????? more inclined to say robbing in it is more than likely :(

Theives are attracted to cars with Krooklocks because it suggests that the krooklock is the only thing preventing them from driving the car away IE no immobiliser or alarm. Stamp on the pedal whilst bending the wheel and its off in most cases :(

Which is exactly why i did'nt give specific details on how to get past a crooklock. Non members can read this. I'm not an admin but you might want to delete this post yourself?
    No offense meant, Guy. :y

Yeah, I thought about that before posting, but considered it better that people that put their trust in Krooklocks should know how easy it is to get them off. After all if you were a car thief you would know already. And if you were a car thief and didnt know how to overcome a Krooklock then you would be so thick that you wouldnt know how to log on to OOF to find out  :y

GRRR. I hate car thieves more than MDTM hates Ryanair if such a thing is possible.

My Mum and Dad had their Metro Turbo stolen and crashed and written off 2 miles later. They had a Crook lock. In fact once my dad had to hacksaw one off HIS car as my Mum had the keys and he needed to go out. It took him ages. Now they drive a crappy base spec Corsa deliberately to not be attractive to bastards. They also have had to invest in all sorts of other stuff to prevent theft including a locked pole in the drive which they can't get out in icy weather. It changed their lives for ever.

One of our thefts had a Krooklock on it in a locked carpark, steering lock on, std Carlton immobiliser right outside where we worked. Hot summers day all windows open.  Not a sound. After that I had to invest in Tracker. I hate car thieving bastards. They ruin people lives financially and otherwise.

I would hang draw and quarter them    no not severe enough.  >:( >:(

I always thought those systems and their like were supposed to be deterrents. I suppose for the non-pro/casual they would be, but to the profesionalls its a red flag to a bull. ::) :-?

I had one on my manta it was broken into but they couldn't get the lock off but they managed to steal the range rover next to me leaving the imobiliser on the ground ;D ;D
