Following on from the thread about the Sun, I thought it might be interesting to find out which newspapers are most or least popular among OOFers. It may have been done before, but the regular users have probably changed quite a bit since then.Poll added. Which newspaper do you read daily or regularily?
Just for fun and curiositys sake.
Unfortunately not enough options available to list all the daily papers, so listed what I thought would be the most popular.
-
Poll added, just for a giggle.
;)
Apologies Albs, I added a poll as you initially said you were confuddled as to how to. Mine now deleted.... :y
-
Financial Times :D
-
:-/ Can't find either poll.
-
Daily Express :y
-
I just added one Brucie, but it (and yours) seems to have disappeared ? :-/
My deleting 'my' poll probably deleted yours at the same time - could only be one there at a time, i suppose! I'll put one up then.... ;)
-
Done. ::)
Dan, stick your choice in the poll. :y...........and buy a decent paper. :y :D ;D ;D
-
poll added - again! ;D
-
Whichever you read Albs it hasn't helped with your spelling ;D ;D ;D :y
-
No option for "weekly Telegraph" for Expats. In fact the Telegragh wasn't even listed.
PS It is a Birthday present. That will teach me to be 100!

The Telegraph was in my original poll, but we now seem to have a few Scottish papers instead. ::) ;D ;D
Edit. now sorted (sort of) the Gaurdian has now got minus 1 and minus 25%, just how it should be, nice one Brucie. :y ;D

Just a slight change....
The Mirror is the Daily Record in Scotland... ;)
Read that as well as The Scotsman so that I get to see both sides of the situation! ;D
-
Can we have an "I don't" option when the poll finally appears in a sustainable form? ;)
I'm not remotely interested in sport of any kind, so that's the back third of most papers binned unread. Celeb gossip, or any kind of gossip, for that matter, agony aunts, theories on what some nutter with no medical qualifications reckons causes cancer this week, etc. Nope. Another third gone, if not more.
Not really interested in anyone else's biased drivel on the subject, just the facts would be fine. Besides, there are no end of blogs offering material of that nature. Most of the remaining third gone.
The supplements and adverts that fall out before you can get the damned thing to the checkout in the newsagents can stay on the floor in the newsagents for all I care.
All seems a bit of a waste of paper, when you look at it like that, so I don't bother. ;)

I'm other - as said, I'd rather read used bog roll - its full of shite still, but more interesting.
-
The Beano & Classic car weekly.
The real world broadsheet press is full of scandal, lies & suffering. If this was'nt bad enough they drag out what could be said in a few lines into endless paragraphs of drone.
The tabloid press is full of television so called celebs. of which i have no interest in as i hardly ever watch telly. ::)
I have no regard for either
-
erm.. 5-6 newspapers everyday , but none of the above ;D
-
Poll now amended. Other/none, please specify by posting in thread. Observer deleted and replaced by the Telegraph.
-
theres no option for "the Indy", but anyway I buy the "I" since it started a few months ago - like a cut down Indy for 20p :y
Guardian on Saturdays
Observer on Sundays
Scotsman if theres no "I" in the week ;)
-
I'm other - as said, I'd rather read used bog roll - its full of shite still, but more interesting.
Just wondering if this is the new way fortune telling Jammie instead of reading tea leaves?? :D :P
-
mostly local.. but if I'm interested for a specific news I check for various from UK..
-
Not enough options to list them all, and I didnt realise anyone still read the Indy. ::) ;D
I knew the local branch secretary of the Socialist workers party, he didnt work. ::) ;D
I also knew his replacement, who was a real socialist firebrand, until someone found out he owned a lot of houses and rented them out for a pretty tidy sum, he was quite a rich man who didnt practise what he preached. ::)
-
where's the Daily Star and Daily Sport? :o
-
No options left in poll.Hoping not too mnay people bothered by those two omissions. ;)
So far, it looks like at least half of OOFers dont read newspapers, or in the case of Daz - cant read newspapers. :D ;D ;D
-

Its a skill. I was 'reading my leaves' earlier, and it told me of a shitstorm...
-
The i during the week, Telegraph Saturday, Times Sunday.
-
Don't read any of em
-
my dad wouldn't consider a day without his paper but nowadays theres an overload of "info" from the net, tv, idiotbook and faceache that theres little room left to read proper journalism in a decent paper these days - its all celebrity pi$h, tits and scandal in most papers so you cant blame most people for not bothering :(
-
Very true, although I did read an excellent article today regarding the war in Iraq and the enquiry - it happened to be in the Mail. I might post it up later if its online.
-
I don't read any paper, if I want news I turn the telly or pc on :y
-
The Mail's doing well for a paper that can't make it's mind up & changes it's opinion to suit the middle class masses.
Hope you're not missing the purple sprouting brocolli too much! :P
-
No surprise to many on here, but of course I read The Daily Telegraph! :D :D :D :D ;)
-
Dont think the Mail is known for changing its mind Guy. Its right wing and proud of it. Although it may surprise a few on here that it has condemned the banking industry in extremely strong terms in the last 2 or 3 years. ;)
This is the article which I mentioned in a previous post, which I think should be of interest to anyone who still cares even a little bit about this United Kingdom.

surprisingly, theres a queue of tolerant liberals wanting to punch Albs ;D :y
-
Have to admit if I do buy a paper (which isn't everyday) I do get the Sun :-[, but the main reason being that I don't have a great deal of time to read papers like The Mail and I can whizz through the Sun in a few minutes. When I really want to know what's going on in the news, I watch one of the news channels on TV.
-
Generally none, for all the reasons others put so succinctly.
Occasionally the 'Eenin Stannit' freebee that mrs boatboy brings out of London.

Just don't understand why everyone can't be reasonable AND DO IT MY WAY :) :)
-
Mirror and Kentish express. Only because I buy them for my mum and read them before she does ;D
-
quite interesting results (if your as sad as me).
Of the people who took part in the poll and the thread, it looks like approx 60% of folks read a paper regularily, and 40% dont.
Of the people who do read a paper regularily 23 people read what would be described as right wing papers and 4 people read what would be described as left wing papers.
I can only presume that OOF isnt very representative of this"left leaning country" of which Banjax speaks. :-/ ::)
