As above really, thought the snow plough thingy wasn't bad, now more BM's, off down the Pub.

Don't understand the stigma associated with BMWs.
They make good cars, the M3 being one of their best.
Yet still people have an unreasonable hatred for them.

I don't think it the cars themselves that people don't particularly like... :D :D :D

Thats because BMWs are overpriced junk. No better than most other marques (often no worse mind - except some of the stunts BMW pull to hide flaws/faults).
-
Swirl flaps on diesels. Cam cover seals on patrols, same as the omega.
... And as said it's not the cars so much, but the people who drive them, deaply superior muppets in pink shirts as a rule!

This thread reminded me to watch this week's TG. Has anyone else noticed that the Peel 50 in the opening titles is a mirror image? :-?
Just noticed it. :y :y :y

I'd swap my Omega for an E92 325i/330i/335i/M3 tomorrow if I could, and I wouldn't care less about the stigma attached to owning one!
There's a lot to like about BMWs for us Omega owners, pretty much all BMWs have; RWD, good handling, great engines, nice interior and decent aesthetics. Sure they're not 100% bulletproof and they have the odd design flaw, but so do the vast majority of cars.
The E46 3 series was actually the best selling car in Britain outselling Ford Mondeos, guess all those owners were tossers too?
Imo the stigma attached to BMW owners has been outdated for a while now.
I have more of an issue with 2.0tdi rep mobile VW Passats, Vauxhall Insignias and Audi A3/4s nowadays..
Don't worry I still love my Omega! :P :)

I'm automatically a prick for having the amount of BMW's I've had, but, what can you say really, you get moaned at for having a certain type of car. That's about all I can say on the subject.
-
I liked the simile at the beginning, made me think if the M3 is the Call Of Duty what car would be the Killzone (3)?

Did say " as a rule Del" therefor there are always exceptions ;)
Can only speak as i find, ime the cars are built to look better built, and in some areas they are, but not in areas that count. Well not enough to to warant the extra price over an omega anyway.
So, basickly, over priced ..... Imo anyway. :-X

There were cars? All I saw was some (completely staged) 'action' with a combine harvester and some blonde bird who appeared to be on the show purely because she's bisexual and attractive..
I must be getting old :-/

Errrr....yep......getting into a BMW seems to instill in people an arrogance that they do indeed "own" the road......and as a result of many many incidents I never ever let a BMW out in front of me

I have had 3 BMW's. 320i Touring 1996. Excellent car was still going strong at 120K. It was then replaced with the current car a 525i Touring 2003 model. This car has only been regularly serviced and had tyres and brake pads, It still looks like brand new. I also had a 530d 2004 model for 18 months. This was a superb car, great power, handling, and excellent fuel economy, if you wanted it!!! :o :o
IMO all of these cars are better built than the Omega(I know, I am a bad person !).
I do agree with the comments about the owners. Some are a bit stupid and seem to like speeding around in built up areas, and tailgating on the motorways.
I have modified my 525, the indicators now work ;D ;D ;D

The last 'decent' Beemers were the late 80s/early 90s 5 Series, possible (to a lesser extent the same era 3 Series).
The stuff since seems to have gone down in build and reliability, whilst the 'common' family marques have improved dramatically in this area. (I know Bmws are now one of the most common, but you know what I mean).
Still, you either love them or hate them. Those that love them will never agree to the bad points, those that hate them will never see past the bad points.
Additionally note that I have specifically left the owners/drivers out of this debate - mostly because many members of my family have had beemers for years :-[
I would have an M Series if one came along at the right price, and that hadn't been thrashed to hell. So I guess I'll never have one of them ;D
Lastly, one of the primary reasons for BMW to buy BL in the early 90s was to learn/understand/utilise their mass production techniques. :-X :-X :-X

all agreed without exception ;D :y
Bmw is a special car, M series really combines family cars with race cars.. and we must accept a fact that their engines are really well built.. (apart from electronic gizmo problems)
I could have one anyday if its a gift ;D but buying a 10 years old second hand one with a price tag of 15K £ (say 330ci or 530i -they are very expensive here) and spending a fortune on it seems unlogical :(
especially with the current fuel prices.. if I cant hammer it why would I buy.. >:(

Sorry, I wasn't saying anything to deliberately get a response, just saying that based on my experience they are my thoughts on the matter
I have spent far too much time being cut up, flashed at and tailgated by BMW drivers for me to care.
I note I have also never been flashed out by anyone in a BMW either, as of course, they are (to themselves) the most important people on the road
Of course, you cant generalise with these things, I am sure there are considerate BMW drivers too, its just that the majority of them spoil it for the minority.
;D :y :y

Sure you didn't get that the wrong way round? ;)

I'm going to have to watch top gear again as I can't remember what film clarkson said she was half naked in :D :D ;D
edit; thank you google ;),it was the "informers" :y
-
loooking at Bmw drivers they are divided into 2..
5 series and above..
3 series and below..
there may be exceptions but mostly 3 series (and below) are driven by young people who drive mad style..
and 5 series generally old mans car ;D (so I dont want 5 series ;D :D)

Wasn't really having a go at people who drive BMs or BMW for that reason, but TG in general I suppose. Last week the show was based around 3 beemers which I found the shows content a boring, last night yet another M5 feature, seems every time I look at Top Gear they have an M5 going sideways round their track, just a bit tired off it all tbh, maybe I should say the same about Porsche.
Had a few BM's in my time, probably the best one being a 90's chipped 325 TDSE, great little run around and mpg until bits started falling off it for no apparent reason and then it went into self destruct mode just before the MOT.
The last one was a 90's 318s with LPG, Leather, Colour Sat etc, again ok untill MOT time, frecking ns indicator packed up, due to its over engineered electronic controller, seem to remember I had to rebuild half the electronics on it just so you could get a false audible indicator clicking noise behind the dash board otherwise the main relay wouldn't work, over £100 to fix for the Mot, most cars, Bulb, Fuse or Relay, job done.
Id have M5 or 3 if the money was right, which it never will be, or even an old 7 series in good nick with LPG, but must admit with my own experiences of BM's I can think of other options to spend my hard earned cash.
Chris.

I think I could be persuaded as well Z 8-)

740 e38 for me - when petrol drops back to 60p per litre. :y ;D

The E92 M3 which is the same as what I had is an absolute master piece, best car I've ever had the fortune to own. That Audi's idea of spitting fuel into the exhaust makes one of the greatest sounds though :-* :-*
