Need to lay a slab for a concrete garage to go onto..anyone know roughly how much the poured stuff is per sqM ? and would the base need rebars in it?

what are the outside sizes LxB and what thickness are you looking for 6",8".
Concrete is sold per cubic metre this can cost £110 per cube or even better look for a company that mixes concrete on site this is cheaper :y

when i did my concrete garage my slab was six inches thick but i was told later that i could have used 2/3 inches in the middle and only 6 inches round the outside.i was told i didnt need r/bar but i had a sheet so i chucked it in anyway.cant help with price think you will have to phone around.

A good benchmark is £100/m3, but you're likely to do better in the current climate.
If it's only taking the weight of a car, then approx 100 to 150mm thick will do nicely, assuming good hardcore beneath. If you ask for reinforced concrete, it actually comes with tiny bits of metal in the mix, which saves the need for rebar.
However, if the slab is also a foundation for the garage and taking its weight also, it will need to be thicker....
Hope this helps! :y

I have a 22foot by 12foot Sturdy extra height sectional garage. It was put up around 1998 or 1999 on approx 7 to 8 inches of concrete in January and the frost got into the top of it. I did seal it with about 1/4 inch of glass fibre resin and it is still standing strong today.
Sturdy garages are pretty good as they go. http://www.lmsturdygarages.co.uk/products/63.html looks like they have changed there name slightly since I purchased one.

Cheers guys, the garage is a freebie but has no roof, was asbestos anyway, and needs a new door I think it's 6 ftx 12 ft

That's not a garage, that's a shed! ;D (FTR, my 'single' garage is ~9' wide by 21' long)
I got some quotes from various builders on laying a poured concrete slab for a shed recently (12' x 10') - £650 was the cheapest..
Think I'll be hiring a mixer and doing it myself (since it's a small, non structural, area)!
