My gorgeous 8-year-old girl went to the shop for me this morning to go for my paper, she got herself up early, chose what to put on, dressed herself, made herself breakfast and cleaned her teeth, and was bursting for me to get up out of bed so she could go.
So I gave her the money, told her which papers to get and watched her across the road. She was so proud of herself as she trotted off to the end of our street and was beaming on the way back, waving and saying hello to complete strangers on the way :)
Not such a big deal, you might think, but she's had a terrible life so far, not going to bore everybody with the details but she's had 3 major heart surgeries and various other less major ones, and many, many visits to hospital for other afflictions in her short life so far, but has turned out to be the sweetest, best behaved and kind girl you could ever wish for.
2 years ago, she wouldn't even have had the energy to get to the shop and back, so I had a little tear in my eye as I watched her walking back towards me with my paper - I took a little pic

A heart-warming post indeed JC (although I did have a wee weep given what she has had to face at the beginning of her journey through this life).
You have every right to feel proud as such a display of strength and courage stands testament to this young lady's determination to overcome these many obstacles and enjoy life to the full.
Well done to her.

Best piece of news for ages Jonny, you must be standing 10foot tall! :y Your little'un also has the most open heartwarming smile, I reckon she's going to cause a few heart problems with the boys when she's older! ;D :y

Thanks for the overwhelming response guys, all I wanted to do was tell a few of you how proud I was feeling, as I don't post that often, but you've said some lovely things and I appreciate them all
