Title: avatars/images server
Post by: Entwood on 25 February 2011, 23:33:10
My avatar is "hosted" on imageshack.us and I can go there and see it in all its splendour.....

However all night, any post of mine I've made/viewed has the little square with the red cross and if I "hover" over it I see a message .. "No image found in 30 seconds! Given up" .. whilst the status bar shows "waiting for img81.imageshack.us" until that box appears.

Obviously the OOF server is not reading the image from imageshack .. but I can from their website.....

The question is why ?? image shack or OOF ?? corrupt link or corrupt image ???

Anything I can do about it ???

:)

Noticed too, also some serious hang time on some pages, even when all images "apear" to be presant.  :-/

....aexcept yours of course E. Refreshing this page is taking a good thirty seconds, waiting for your avatar to appear i guess.

It's imageshack. Always has been, always will be too slow.

Use a better service ;)

The OOF server doesn't load the image itself, either. It embeds a link to imageshack in the page, so the client loads the image.
