King George VI first name was Albert and no I haven't seen The King's Speech

Not sure on the rest without cheating  :-[

a chinese gooseberry is a kiwi fruit, so I'm gonna guess New Zealand.

Canary islands named for dogs? isla canaris I seem to recall

saw it yesterday - seems he was a very underrated monarch - a reluctant king who held this country together during the war, dont know how accurate the film is tho, or why the queen mum (helena b carter) didn't want the story told until she'd popped her clogs as they come out of it very well  :y
