Hasn't been on for a few day's.
Hope he's OK.
-
...or just finally got around to actually drive his taxi instead of posting? ;D
-
Still no sign, hasn't been on since early Tues. morning.
-
I seem to remember he was having hassle with his internet connection? or was that sorted?
-
Still no sign, been a week now :(

Just made me recall, I still have his torque wrench from Brackley.
TD, get on here ;D
-
Anyone have a phone number etc we could give him a call?

And my camlock kit. And my T55, And.....
-
Dont know him personally but hope he is OK...
maybe we should all register our mobile numbers on here, I assume we can be sure they will be treated confidentially?

whats the number of his cab firm? ;D

I think there are too many members who arent "regulars" as such, making it a tad risky!

Not sure that is something I would be comfortable with, both as a user and as an admin....

For regulars yes

... spare torx rail, angle measurer...
As said before, if you need anything back urgently then I'll sort it out pronto...
Otherwise, we'll stick with Plan A and I'll bring it over when we reset my fault codes?

No, all members are treated indentically. Everyone is equal here. No special members, no 'elite' class of member. :)

Hmm wrong end of stick. Well there is no point getting just visiting phone numbers, but for regulars like about the top 100 posters we should be able to contact if they go missing.
I suppose we could collect for all members on the profiles

Top 100 would be a form of elitism imho, what do you think?

No it is not a form of elitism - they are just the members someone would miss if they didn't post for a week.
We do notice if certain regulars are missing, you do get the pattern if they are just passing, but most people do tend to stick around, I did a quick count earlier, around 100 - 150 core posters, if someone asks a couple of questions then goes we do not notice, if someone posts a couple of hundred messages in general chat we notice if they stop posting.
No elitism suggested meant or implied
-
There is a form of elitism on this forum, but you earn it by posting.
Star count and post count ;D

Whether intend, or even if it exists (and I genuinely believe it doesn't), it make appear that way to some.
Keeping all members entirely equal, and having no special 'VIP' forums, no subscriptions etc prevents any one member having a higher 'importance'.
Only exception is the small admin team, who, even here, have an important job ensuring everything runs sweetly. Obviously, elevated permissions are required for this, and we do have an area to discuss running issues. Though, I in no way consider myself more important than a newbie with a single post, and I'm sure LB66, MDTM or AA feel any different.

Martin,
If you could handle a spreadsheet, those who are interested could PM you with their contact numbers. It would then have nothing to do with the forum officially.
For example, I could PM you with my details on the understanding that you would be free to give it out to any OOF members who request the details in a PM to you, at your discretion.
This would be a private arrangement purely between you and those members who sent you their details. No eltism and no legal comebacks and entirely unofficial.
An arrangement binding in honour only, as they say.
Your a trustworthy type, (so I'm led to believe. ;) ), so would you be up for it?

Only flaw being - if something happened to Martin, and one of us needed his contact details ;D

I am but PM would very soon over fill so use it carefully, unless the admins make my inbox bigger.
I'll set up a simple database and I will share it with the admins.

It's OK you have mine, I know a few other members have one of my many email addresses

I'll set up a simple database and I will share it with the admins.
The thing is, they may not want the information (it might make the arrangement more official etc)... and we don't want to be answerable to the DPA etc.......

Fair enough - I'll look after the info. but leave a copy with you if OK

All members will have a private email address that was used to register on this suite, and the admins have access to it....
So not sure a central register on mobiles is really needed. Of course if Martin wants to do this there is no problem with that, but this is done on voluntary basis both ways.
Going back to TD - perhaps one of the admins can email him to private email address asking him if all is well...?

The only problem as I see it, if he's reading his e-mails, he would be on the forum.
I reckon somethings happened to him.

I must say, there is some advantage to being a newbie, less responsibly... because newcomers can decide for themselves if they want to take your advise or not. The problem with giving advise with 6-stars ranking and 3k+ posts is that you come across very authoritative and newbies might obey without questioning, even though most of the time I don't actually know what I'm talking about anyway... ;D

Havent you fixed your airbag sensor prob yet!
I fixed the exhaust manifold prob on mine.....did it yesterday.....nice and quiet now when cold :y
Only took me 3 weeks to get round to it ;D
But now i have another prob :(
After doing the job....started it after 3 weeks standing and yes it started, not even a flat battery which i was 1/2 expecting.....but absolutely no lpg in it....3 weeks ago it had 1/2 tank :o
Took it to lpg installer who did a 'wet test' on it and found a leak on the tank :o :(
So its booked in to them next thursday/friday for fixing the leak.
Its probably been leaking for ages :o But driving it day to day you wouldnt really notice the leak....but after 3 weeks 1/2 tank had vanished!

Sure I read recently from Martin Imber that the gas does leak over time anyway, but 3 weeks is obviously excessive...
-
'Wet test' is really a aerisol of water and soap they spray over all the joints.....one of the connections to the tank....bubbled...indicating a leak...however its not dangerous.....coz lpg is heavier than air...and where my tank is suituated (under the boot floor) i have air vents fitted in the spare wheel well.....so the escaping gas just goes out these vents

1/4 tank over 6 months - I think it is past a solenoid

Yes it is....a solenoid.....screwed into the tank is leaking on its threaded bit....lpg installer said to run it outa gas again.....then they have to vent the tank.....which takes time coz they're not allowed to release the gas all at once (even empty there will be still some gas in there) .....removed the soleniod....repaste the thread and reinsert it.....could be summat i could do....but they found the leak.....so leaving it for them to do.

Ah yes....so you do ;D
Was thinking about that when tightening up the exhaust manifold nuts.......sure they must have a torque value.....but i just did em up tight.....then went round em again....and just for the fun of it a 3rd time.
Are you going to the Lakes James? If so can you bring it with you please :y
