Well since I have officaly finished University now, and awaiting the results. I decided to crack on with some work on the Senator today.
I was hoping to do the autobox fluid change, under the expert guidence of Omegatoy, but because he has sold his house no more and oil stains were allowed. It meant i had to do it on my own!
Needless to say i was extremley nevous in attempting this... given my previous record in sheared bolts... I was very scared!! - Also i don't really like working deep under the car, but Omegatoy kindly lent me his ramps, and I decided to crank on, and delighted to say i managed it. Quite chuffed. :D
Anywho, popped the car on the ramps and got on with changing the fluid, the drain was jammed solid (i am not very strong anyway) So i dropped the sump and cleaned it all up.
Like to say at this point, again, a big public thanks to Omegatoy, for putting up with a number of calls from me asking silly questions, really nice guy :y
Unfortunelty I had 3 'spinners' when putting the sump back on, the nut went in but refused to tighten, just span on itself. I managed to find some extra washers, but this still did not help :(
The 3 semi-loose ones are in the middle of long rows of the autobox sump... so not critical and does not seam to be leaking, but does anyone have any autobox sump nuts spare? Could do with 3.... would like to make sure its all secure for Europe. :y
Some pictures from the day:

An arty farty shot... ignor the idiot in the photo....

Nice shinny clean sumps...

Put it all back together, 3.5 litres of autobox oil went back in, after i did the check propperly (going though the gears with
the engine running) - Changes are much smoother now, especialy when down shifting.
Also the Omega started first time when the battery was connected, had not been run in a month. It ran lumpy for 30 seconds but
smoothed out.
All-in all a good days work, also gave the Senator an engine oil change for good measure!
Its good to be back working on cars. :)

;D ;D ;D
Sorry m8, it was going to be today but managed to come home a day early.
However.... you free this Friday? Need to change the water pump.... and getting the aux belt on is a 2 man job really. Also going to wip out the rad and remove the condensor as well.
You get to compare the S6 vs V6 ;)

A day for that.....an hour, maybe two... ;)

:-[ :-[ :-[
Took me 15 mins to get it on the ramps :'( - Off on, then only one wheel was half way on the ramp, mother tunnie shouted stop too early, which meant I was not on the flat part of the ramp. (its interesting balancing the revs on the break on an auto! ;D)
Took me about an hour to get both sumps off, cleaning them took a while too.
If i do it again, sumps and all I would be a lot quicker i think.
Going to drain and change the fluid again after the Lake District run. :)

Water pump on a Senator.... :-X
-
Tunnie, before you go to lakes, but after you've done a few miles, check the fluid level again :)

Taking a 1 litre bottle with me, took it on a run to Greatworth and back. (nice and gently to let it get used to the new fluid) It dropped a bit then, and i topped it up.
LB66 - Do tell more.... i have a replacement pump...

I might pop over and see him on Friday if he is around....
