Title: Insurance Nonense!!
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 01 March 2011, 08:59:07
So today the European Court of Justice will rule if it is fair for women to enjoy smaller car insurance premiums then men on the grounds of sexual discrimination.

As I understand car insurance premiums they are worked out based on level of risk that the client represents.  As women have less accidents and less costly ones then men what is wrong with their premiums being cheaper on 'risk' gounds than men?!!

What a load of nonense, and why should I suddenly pay more when my risks are less than for men?! :-? :-? :-?

I am sure also mens premiums will not be reduced, so who gains;  surprise, surprise, the insurance companies!! ::) ::) >:( >:(

No surely it will all be done fairly. Mens premiums will go down a bit and womens go up a bit in order to make them equal. ;D ;D

Im all for equality generally, but with underwriting criteria, proven stats should be taken into account.

Yet another reason why the laws in this country should be made by Westminster, not by the EU or ECJ.  >:(

But you do also have to bear in mind that a great many women used to be or still are driving on a policy in their husbands name (as pointed out by my wife this morning) ;)

This is, apparently, quite prevalent in the "Chelsea Tractor Brigade" ::) ::)

Maybe they have finally realised that although women dont have as many accidents, they cause a hell of a lot of them. :y :D ;D
This really is lunacy, insurance assessors cant take gender into account. Men are no longer going to be paid higher pensions than women, despite the fact that they die younger !!
This of course opens the door for ageism claims as well. Insurance companies wont be allowed to discriminate against young people. Even the possibilty of discrimination against people in different geographical locations ?
So the end result - we must all be assumed to be the same and must all be treated the same - sound familiar ?? ;)
Still, no use keep complaining about it. Abide by the rules or leave the club.Or more specifically, elect leaders who will allow us the choice of leaving the club. ;)
