Just been browsing e-bay looking at Omega`s for sale and i have been suprised just how many "common faults" there are with our cars. These range from cam cover gaskets leaking, water leaks, oil cooler leaks, ABS and EML lights on, manifold leaks etc etc. They all must use the same mechanic for quotes to get them fixed as a large percentage quote " A mechanic has stated it`s an easy fix for around £40". Thanx to this forum we know sometimes it is not an "easy fix" and is an indication of bad maintenance practices. It`s sad that some unsuspecting buyer with no knowledge of Omega`s could be sold a pup and get the wrong impression of our excellent cars and end up with hefty repair bills. :(

And the mechanic quotes £400 to actually fix the fault once you have bought the car! ;D

Always gives me a bit of a laugh when I see that, if it's such an easy, cheap fix, why not get it sorted yourself and sell the car as the best it can be with no problems?

i know mine's for sale with weepy cam cover gaskets (which i'm hoping to have fixed soon) but i hate when people state anything wrong with a car as "common faults"
its more off-putting than just saying it needs something replacing!
