honestly, who cares.. a country who exports sheria and kills opponents even from the other countries , deserve to be kicked from the world imo.. >:(

.... Worth every penny then. :y

I think it's got more to do with the fact that they know they won't get their athletes, coaches or translators back. They'll refuse to go home. ;D

Most of them probably already live here anyway. ;) ;D

Ah the Olympics. The only competition where there are more competitors than spectators. ;D
-
Utter tedium. :y.....still at least parts of Stratford are looking nice these days. Its been a very long time since that last happened. ;D
-
I am surprised, I always thought the logo was rubbish and looked like a woman giving head.....but if it means Iran dont take part then its gone up in my estimation ;D

Yeah I can't say Hackney Marshes and Dog Track ever held much appeal. Mind you I wonder what the area will look like in 10 years time. We'll all still be paying for it but how much of it will be used. There are probably much better things we could have invested our hard paid taxes in. Third World aid, MP's expenses, higher benefits to the unemployed(able). MInd you this could be the first Olympics where every minority nation can be repesented without even having to commute 'cos there already here!!!

It'll look lovely in a couple of years time when the pointless buildings have had their 2 weeks use and have been left derelict. ;D
Total waste of time and money, the whole thing.

could have regenerated the whole of outer London for the money spent on 2 weeks of running round a track and chucking javelins. ::) :y

At least public transport has gained out of it and will continue to be a benefit long afterwards. I doubt that would have happened without the Games! ;) ;)

who wants to take the tube to Stratford though ? :D ;D
There was already a bigish staion there tbh, although I dont actually know what they have improved/modified tbh.

Have a look at this official web site Albs, with both domestic and international rail links improved:

Stratford is a pimple on the arsehole of the world. Drive up the Romford road and you get to Forest Gate (luvverly) then Ilford, Seven Kings, all classy places ;D

Demolished a leisure centre that was a bit dated and tatty but fit for purpose and built one that's not tatty yet but totally unfit for purpose? ;)

Or head in the other direction and nip in the Blind Beggar for a pint of pigs ear and a large pimple and blotch, and talk about the good old days when Ronnie Kray would nip in for a quick half and shoot someone through the eye while he was there. :y
Then have an uplifting chat about how the lovely new muslim centre and mosque across the road is the biggest one in europe. :y

Used to go past on the No 25 bus every day, on my way to catch the tube to Chelsea Harbour.

Aah but that fits well with the present day criteria used when planning many things - as long as it looks the part and has provided profit for those who conceived and implemented the concept it doesn't have to be particularly relevant, efficient or indeed necessary to the (in this case) infrastructure of the locale.

Still, our political masters have assured us that the vast sums spent developing this effort will be of great benefit to the country, our standing in the world and those fortunate numbers living in the areas redeveloped by the Herculean effort to display Britain at her best.
What a load of shite. [smiley=thumbdown.gif] [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Zulu, you're missing the point. Think how many silly hats we're going to be able to sell to the tourists...
Shame we import all our silly hats these days. ::)

I think I will boycott 2012.
For those of us that live outside of some grotty part of London (and Weymouth), it offers sweet FA, except higher taxes.

Think I'll be joining you on that one TB.
If enough of us boycott the games maybe we'll make the BBC news on a slow day. ;D ;D
