how much should it normally cost to hire a small van, like a caddy or a transit connect, for just a few hours?
-
the company i use only does 24 hours or more and thats about £45 for a day
-
ah so its not dangerously expensive then, i would think if i find a company that can do it for a few hours it can be much cheaper
-
I paid about 60 quid for a day from salford van hire - probably not the cheapest...
I doubt you'll find anywhere that will do less than 24hrs.
Having said that, it might be cheaper to hire a "man with a van" if it's a one-off job - most small couriers charge by the mile, and reasonable loading time (>20 mins) is free.
No idea of usual rates - my sister used to get 38p a mile, but that was 6 years ago, in a car, so expect £1.50 - £2.00 a mile for a transit, now

A place local to me does vans on half day rental, (4 hours).
I rented a Fiat Doblo a couple of weeks back to collect a tumble dryer and a small chest freezer.
4 hours = £30, + £100 deposit and whatever fuel I'd used.

Put an advert on anyvan with an idea of what you want doing and couriers and the like will bid for the Job.
I had a sidebord and a dishwasher collected from my brother in Bury St Edmund and delivered to wrexham for £28.oo couldn't do that for fuel it was a no brainer!

When you need the van for Danny? I quite often have use of the 'works van' and im pretty flexible time wise :y
-
its not really me that needs it, i have a multigym on ebay which is up for collection only and i've recommended potential buyers to hire a van, as it'll make life much easier and i wouldn't need to take it apart
