Title: Lou Reed's 69th bithday.
Post by: Amigo on 02 March 2011, 21:53:23
I know i'm pitching at a limited audience but most of you will know "Perfect Day" & "Walk on the wild side". That was Lou. My love & appreciation of him goes alot further, through Velvet underground featuring Nico & the unforgettable Rock & Roll Animal, & Transformer albums. For once i won't post any youtube clips, there are some musicians on here & others who will know, if not have a look for yourselves & see.

He played a formative part in my musical "taste?" from my teens & i still love the bloke today.

    All the best Lou! 8-)

I also love all Lou Reed's music, even the slated "Berlin" album (many happy memories of dirty weekends with "Transformer" playing in the background)!  The man is an absolute legend.

Well at least that's 2 of us then. I've got a jukebox full of 45's but it's only an NSM prestige & it takes ages to wake up!!!! :y

Ahh, yes, I'm with you too. :y

Exhibiting at a hi-fi show this weekend and there'll be a few of his tunes played, I'm sure. :)

"white light, white heat"................top bloke, and musical innovator in my humble opinion.

"Transformer" was ahead of its time in a lot of ways, and broke new ground about what was "acceptable".

Many more returns, Lou!! :y

Not taking any vinyl sadly. Some bottles will be going, though.

Serious valves there Kevin, even more expensive than the 6973's on my old Rock-Ola.

It's one of two amps I offered to fix for my cousin a couple of weeks back..

..and, having heard it, I think I'm going to be making him an offer for one. :-*

You really can't beat the sound quality of a good valve amplifier, even the relatively simple jukebox ones if they are repaired properly.
