Our Housing Association, Affinity Sutton, are currently throwing money at our blocks of flats. Having just refurbished all our bathrooms including given us top quality Mira showers, along with yet again replacing all our electric sockets and switches with full electric testing, they are now resurfacing all our parking / service areas :y :y :y :y :y :y
The new bathroom is lovely, but the resurfacing of all the parking areas, including in front of our garages, means I will no longer have grit stuck in my flesh when servicing the underside of the car! What luxury to have a smooth, level, tarmac surface!! :D :D :D 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :y :y :y
Thank you Affinity Sutton! You are the business! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Financial crisis? What financial crisis? The amount of work they have given to the large numbers employed in these works is heartening:y :y

You will possibly find this is in line with the European decent homes standard and Europe are actually paying for it :y

Nice to see someone having a decent Housing association experience. Mrs Varches 85 year old uncle lives in one of 3 oaks properties in Leicestershire.
In the last five months he has had endless problems with his central heating going faulty. The man came fixed it mumbled some instructions to the uncle who is a bit deaf and left. that afternoon without touching it it failed again. The guy came back and said it was obsolete, waiting for a part. Left him without any heating for days in one of the coldest winters on record.
Came back left a tiny fan heater. Consequently his electric bill was enormous.
each time they leave a "satisfaction survey" .
The saga is still ongoing, radiators don't get warm, no water in the CH header tank in the loft, etc etc. I shall have to have a look at it next week. No wonder old people just give up and die rather than be a nuisance.
In my view it is all done on the cheap to boost profits.

WDH (Wakefield district housing) has 32,000 properties. They were transferred from the council two years ago. Every single house/flat is currently being refurbed, new bathroom, kitchen, new central heating with condenser boiler, rewire and flooring, at a cost of millions. It's all to do with the governments 2010 standard.
Incidentally, the rent is going up by £25 a month in april ::)

You mean Europe are paying for it with a small portion of the money we are forced to pay every year in membership fees, currently the net cost is £20 billion a year. We are being bribed with our own money and they expect us to be grateful. >:(

Ditto, and there's only me paying mine :( Bet you get more for your money up there in Lincolnshire, though!

TVHA replaced our CH boiler and all the radiator valves a few months back because they "weren't energy efficient", it sounds good until you realise that the house is only 10yrs old and the old kit worked perfectly. They probably used more energy making the new boiler than will be saved.......
