On reflection it was a mistake to link it to that quote from your very good friend (and my fellow countryman) from the East End.
I'm distressed to see that he has taken umbrage with you as, ordinarily, his respect for you knows few bounds.

Face like a robbers dog was classed as an insult when I was younger.It meant that you were very very ugly and your head was out of proportion to your body.
Other insults were you look like you have been chasing parked cars or you fell from the ugly tree,hit every branch on the way down and then had the fire on your face put out with a spade.

Forgot these,you were so ugly as a baby your Mum would only take you out at night and Beauty is skin deep,pity you are inside out. ;D
