Will need a bit more info James to identify.

Any description of the loco; its colour, wheel arrangement, with tender or without, numbers, name, amounts of brass, like safety valve bonnet?  What were the coaches like; colour, number....?

 ;) ;)

Think the line is Chester - Wrexham  (passes inbetween Saltney and Lache where I saw it if that helps)

44932 was the only one making a move today to Carnforth from London (could have gone via Chester I suppose)

the brit should have been out on a full load test without it was cancelled.

That is one of the many Black 5's James now rightly in circulation, and as few are passed for main line running then I believe Mark is right to suggest this one :y :y

I know a few people with them.

Also all the best runs I have ever had have had a form of EE engine in (including Paxman range).

V16s 2xD18s 2xV12s

There are 50 to 60 year old locomotives running on BR with EE engines!
