The classic, my missis is off in a couple of days for a short well deserved break, but we just discovered her passport has run out. Now the fast track, one day service (for which you pay nearly double) sounds fine, but that is one day processing after you get an appointment which can be several weeks :-X :-X :-X
Anyone know how long we can expect to wait before getting an appointment ?.

I think the only way to get one that quick is a drive to newport and do it in person
-
Thanks for that,
From what we have found out, we have to phone up in the morning and hope we get an appointment soon. How soon is soon ?

Yeah, typical, one minute late paying my taxes and they start hitting me with fines, but them get off their butts, no way.

You can book at appointment at their office in Victoria, it can be done there and then. But bend over to pay it's about £125
-
I went in first thing in the morning and it was done by 2pm if you tell them it is an emergency. :y
-
I had this about ten years ago. drove to the office in Peterborough (I think ) and had one within a couple of hours.
Dont know if things have changed since then tbh. :-/
-
send me £200 cash i'll get you a passport by this afternoon!! :-X
;D ;D

Same thing happened to me last year, i rang the office at 4pm, they said come tomorrow morning at 9am so I drove to Liverpool. Waited for my appointment, got called up at 9.10am, had my passport by 11am. Got bummed tho for £130ish I think. Didn't even check any of my documents, just sorted it there and then. They said come back in 2 hours, and it was job done. Costly error tho. :y

I don't think that's that unreasonable actually... If you've forgotten or neglected to check your passport and need it in a hurry the extra £50ish (IIRC postal applications are now £79.95 :-/) to have it in your hand the same day is quite a good deal ;)
Of course... The best thing is to keep on top of it and be sure that it doesn't get within 6 months of expiring ::) Had to do both mine and SWMB last year ::)
-
Cheap! Mine ran out last year and because I have the temerity to live abroad postal renewal was 175 euros (about a £152). It did come back in less than a week which was pretty good.

I know, I just applied for a new passport myself, in fact I just got a note to say my new one was attempted to be delivered!
It was £88 but thats because I used Post Office Check & Send service, because if only character is outside the box, they reject it!
-
Renewed mine last year, used the Post Office check, and they sent it off.
Got the cancelled one back two days later, and the new one the following day.
Much as I'd like to complain about a government department, I can't in this case!
-
peterborough my friend.
my mate had to drive up and he got it 3 days before travel
-
even if you do renew it in time the normal way its still fekin expensive

Thanks for all the info Guys, its more or less sorted. The Missis phoned up the help line and they gave her an appointment for tomorrow morning first thing. Strange they can't give you an appointment for the same day :o. However it should all be settled, and she'll be away for a week.
Hmm, empty house, party next weekend anyone ?. ;D ;D ;D
