Title: Budget beating food.
Post by: Amigo on 26 March 2011, 22:01:19
Popped into the local co-op an hour ago & came out with 2 large thin stoneground pizzas, one pepperoni & one chicken & chargrilled pepper, 25p each. Two packs of fresh chicken breast, £1.24 each (4 curries), 2 packs of microwave mash, 20p each (nice as a light tea with an egg on top), two weighidiotchers chicken tikka masalla & rice curries, 30p each, i'll eat them both once i've (fettled) them!

Lastly, two cooked chickens, 60p each. Yes i'm fully aware & wary of chickens that have been kept warm all day but i have a method that works every time. Rip the legs & thighs off, then pull every last bit of meat off the carcasses, allow both to cool then put into tupperwares in the fridge where they will keep for a few more days & with onion, mushroom, peas, celery etc. will make a quick easy savoury rice.

Not bad for just over a Lady Godiva! 8-)

Crikey that's some cheap food! Nice.. I need your luck in finding bargains, clearly ;D

Especially since I was just quoted an absolutely eye watering figure to build a new garage by the house .. £23k for a garage! I could probably save that in five years if I ate food costing those amounts ;D what's your secret? (I'm guessing 'go just before closing time, buy everything that's reduced to clear'  :D)

;D For that price the whole thing better be built out of gold, be nicer to live in than the house, and give me a BJ every morning!

Mmmm, stews. I love a good stew - actually bought some flour the other weekend, so when I get a spare 30 minutes I'll take the stewing steak from the freezer and knock something up in the slow cooker.

P.S. Stop eating man! You'll end up like me! ;D

hey richie, how are ya?

when did you start to give up and how's it all going? i gave up about 2 or 3 years ago yet i am partial to the odd crafty pack when away from my adorable other half.

i started off using 2 full strength patches a day and busying myself so i didnt get a chance to crave.

good luck mate. i know its a cliche but it will be the best thing you ever do!!!!!  :y :y :y :y
