Gents
I want to do away with the Air Filter box on my 1996 2.5 v6.
Does anyone know where I can get a decent cone filter and neccessary fittings?
Ideally something that doesen't take too much fabrication to make it fit.

Are you looking for performance increase? a cone filter wont give you much if any in that department. the only thing you will get is a loader roar when you floor it

Did contemplate putting one in some time ago, but opted against it following some advice re; potential overheating issues when stuck in traffic :(.....Therefore decided to leave as is :)

The primary question is why?
For a performance increase? Forget it!
The standard filter has a greater surface area than a cone filter.
Besides a cone filter is only effective with a direct cold air feed. To achieve this you need to insulate it from the engine bay heat. At that point it becomes expensive...
The performance increase increase is also limited by the other end...
Remember, if you want to get more air in.... you have to get more air out!
That has 2 large heavy problems, in the form of the restrictive exhaust manifolds.
So you can have a huge free flowing air intake, but with restictive exhaust manifolds, you have no benefit.
For the noise aspect...yes it does nake it sound meatier, but the same effect can be had by simply drilling the bottom of the air box! ;)
