Very sad to hear though the early demise of such a great businessman who had a vision :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Didnt realise he was that young. Possibly stress induced illness ? It cant have been easy to build and run a company like that from scratch. At least he fulfilled his ambitions and made something of his life while he was here.

He was a bully, and as he got bigger his bullying increased.. :-X  Successful yes, but at what cost to independent haulage companies ::) Could easily be argued either way........ :) :)

yes i agree. it take a certain type to make it big, usually involves little concern for stepping on others.

I met him at the Corgi Toys "Greatest Little Motor Show" event at Donington Park way back in September 1975.

His father is Eddie, though the deceased is actually 'Edward'.

Apparently a film is being made about his life. It looks quite good, I've seen the trailer!! ;D :-X

I got a job driving for Eddie Stobart...........I asked if I could put my ex-wife's name on the front of my truck. They wouldn't let me, because apparently, "Fat, Money-grabbing, Lazy old bitch" doesn't fit on a Scania grille! ;D
