It's a loooong story Sm, but suffice to say Lizzie has decided to pack it all in & go to pastures new :(

She deleted her account after the shenanigans last week with the post count culls/admin stuff/etc etc.

I got the impression that, like me, she had not got a clue what was happening to the forum, which turns out to have been a practical joke not understood at the time by many, (including me), particularly to the General Discussion, to which she has been a stalwart contributor, and as she was also feeling somewhat down at the time, decided to leave.
The problem with the joke was, apparently, that unless you were on the forum when it happened, and picked it up a day or two later, by which time there were so many threads it was impossible to read them all, you would have thought that the whole thing had imploded, and I'm sure that this is what has upset Lizzie, as it did me, until I was enlightened. :y

Totally agree but she also did

To a certain extent, I quite agree.
Ms Zoom does however (in my very personal opinion) need to lighten up somewhat and realise that the world en masse is not against her. She, like the rest of the world, revolves around the sun and not vice versa.
And like Forrest Gump, that's all I have got to say about that.

Im with Johnny, I dont know all the ins and outs of Lizzies leaving, but have always found her posts -particularly in this section-thoughtful and interesting. Does she need to "lighten up"? I dont know, but I do hope she returns soon :y

I refuse to get into a should she go should she stay argument, and I have a great respect for her... :y
However, I have been on the sharp edge of her tongue because I dared to disagree with her, and I will go back some years to my Sweeny post, their car was a Consul GT and not a Granada..... :)
Point is, people in glass houses, should not throw stones, or more simply put, if you can't take it don't throw it, or, my addition, just ignore... ::) ::) ::)

mr alarming man please ignore my post count,it is if i hadnt left about 2400 but i dont care about post count and have seen this before in my time,this forum does not exist around a certain few individuals who if they threaten to leave it will close the forum.what i am trying to say is ive not been here two mins ive benn here longer and she isnt the great person people make out,yes she is a valued member but she had her views which you were allowed to disagree with and she has thrown her dummy out of the pram so lizzie ttfn :y

(Im actually sad enough to have saved old car brochures that I collected as a kid and I have one for the consul-along with some very strange ones that Ford kindly sent me from the states featuring strangely attired men with checked trousers and aviator sunglasses lolling over Mustangs/Pintos/LTDs etc ;D. Well, it was the 70s the decade that fashion forgot...)

There are a few of us who are frequently one of the "Admin's Playthings" when it comes to post count "culling"... As most will know, I'm certainly one of them ::) I have always (and always will!) found it highly amusing and take it exactly as it is meant. She never had any problems joining in the joke when it was someone else on the receiving end ;)
Lizzie was a recent victim, as a joke, as was I and several other members including 2 of the Admins... Most of us took it on the chin, had a laugh (changed Avatars ::)) and went along with it. Lizzie came on the following day, demanded the return of her post count and then left with a big flourish because it wasn't done within a couple of days. ::)
She has done it before and returned... I hope she'll return again ;)

To my mind there was plenty of it going around, all in threads that are now gone (thankfully) though.
The general feeling I picked up was "It was our joke, it's our forum, if you don't like it then you're boring, not worth our time and need to lighten up" - but occasionally put in much harsher terms than that and there was some considerable rudeness from various parties to various other parties.
To be honest I didn't find the whole episode funny either, not because of post count loss (I couldn't give two hoots about mine!) but because of the way those who were clearly 'out of the loop' were treated by those who were 'in the loop'. When everyone is in the loop (or clique, whatever you want to call it) then it's all fun & games, but when those who are out of the loop are used (quite rudely, at times) as unwilling stooges it starts to become a little less savoury.
Or maybe I just have no sense of humour.. and I promised myself I wasn't going to comment on all this as there was really no point. Darnit. Now look what you made me go and do :P :-X 8-)

I can assure you that I was a victim but not part of the loop at all... I just lost my post count (again ::) ::)) and lived with it :y :y
I mean... It wasn't that long ago I had my post count culled because someone else mentioned one of the Admin's pet hates... I hadn't even commented on the thread in question IIRC ::) ;D
I, like you, wasn't going to comment on this thread but if people want to join in with the laugh and joke when it's other people then they have to accept that it may be them one day ;) ;)

I lost my post count and was in no loop believe me, look at some of the posting I made at the time, not so much about loosing post count, a regular occurrence, but when i thought the forum had had it, and gone into melt down due to DLK.... :( :(

No loop afaict. Or if there was a loop, it was one she found most amusing if it happened to others. No doubt about it. Funny how some get upset when the proverbial boot is swapped to the other foot. LZ has seen all this before, and knows how it should be taken. As usual chose to make unusual and special demands above the rest. I still can't see why a member should get a post count return before admin, or anyone else....?
Constant special attention necessary... Ok, wore thin in the end though, being honest.
Anyway, I guess LZ has a more pleasant future now, no? We'll see.

Maybe saying 'in the loop' is the wrong phrase - although there was clearly a loop there, even if it was just the admins involved (as TB said somewhere, it was all orchestrated among them).. it just seemed that some people took it all as good fun and therefore didn't mind when the mickey was taken or they were on the receiving end of barbed responses; but others didn't take it as well and yet folks kept pointing the barbed responses at them..
I tend to think that if someone is obviously sore about something you stop poking them about it - a bit like a scab, or you'll just end up with a scar ;)
Maybe I'm overly sensitive when it comes to piss taking - having said that I do plenty of it myself, I'm just careful about who I take the piss out of.. probably because I ended up on the receiving end of so much of it (and it wasn't always good natured!) when younger. Which I suppose everyone gets - I just took it worse than others ;)
(For example, I wouldn't take the piss out of TB ... because he'd steal my post count ;D)
Anyway, what's done is done - I wish LZ well as I'm sure most do, and life goes on :y

Maybe saying 'in the loop' is the wrong phrase - although there was clearly a loop there, even if it was just the admins involved (as TB said somewhere, it was all orchestrated among them).. it just seemed that some people took it all as good fun and therefore didn't mind when the mickey was taken or they were on the receiving end of barbed responses; but others didn't take it as well and yet folks kept pointing the barbed responses at them..
I tend to think that if someone is obviously sore about something you stop poking them about it - a bit like a scab, or you'll just end up with a scar ;)
Maybe I'm overly sensitive when it comes to piss taking - having said that I do plenty of it myself, I'm just careful about who I take the piss out of.. probably because I ended up on the receiving end of so much of it (and it wasn't always good natured!) when younger. Which I suppose everyone gets - I just took it worse than others ;)
(For example, I wouldn't take the piss out of TB ... because he'd steal my post count ;D)
Anyway, what's done is done - I wish LZ well as I'm sure most do, and life goes on :y

I, like many others on here, are the "Scab Pickers" you refer to... I like taking the p!$$ out of people... I also enjoy it when people return the favour ;) There are several members who I will go to town with and really have a fun night, some of which I've never even met in person ;)

I agree, it did go over the top, but that is not why LZ left, she left over demanding her post count back... :-X I was annoyed as well, but am used to loosing my post count at the whim of an admin and certainly if DLK has anything to do with it... ::) ::)
However, it has been quiet around here recently and a couple of weeks ago, or so, DLK livened the night up and it was like the old days, in fact possible why things are a little quiet may be that DLK, now a Mod, is not available to take the P*ss out of like the old days, lets chill a bit, the serious stuff is in the other threads, this in general chat, perhaps it should read, P taking debate...... :D :D :D

Vamps - I think you're probably right about LZ's reasons for leaving, I suppose I was just rambling about the incident in general really. I do wonder, though, if people had stopped poking her when it became clear she wasn't having fun with it, whether she'd still have left over the post count? We shall never know, eh :)

The Consul/Granada range replaced the Zephyr/Zodiac range in 1972? Ford used the name Consul on countless models since the 50's (i won't bore you with them all..but i could!!) & this was the last use of the name. In this form the Consul was the budget version of the Granada spec wise & in real low spec was initially available with the godawful 2.0 V4. All this range had the sunken clock dash. They were facelifted in 74/75? with a new dash, grille & the drop dead gorgeous Coupe was introduced. Whilst they remained Mk1 Granadas the Consul name was dropped, & the top of the range GXL became the Ghia.

Regarding Lizzie as i've said openly in the past she can be over sensitive, take things to heart & be a tad difficult when her feathers are ruffled but who am i to sit in judgement of that? With 10,000+ members there is bound to be a wide spectrum of characters & personalities which at times will inevitably clash but in my humble opinion if we were all of a calm patient nature it would be pretty dull & by the same count if we were all of a volatile nature the whole thing would be unworkable so i feel we need both to maintain an equilibrium.
Yes Lizzie can be a pain but she's an intelligent informed girl who i hope will continue to play her part among us.

i got the impression that she was exasparated on someone elses behalf about the whole post count thing rather than being bothered about her own, when she voiced that opinion a lot of people jumped down her throat and she felt the need to leave. I for one would hate to think its permanent, hopefully she'll have a nice, relaxing weekend and come back fighting soon :y :-*

My guess therefore, is in order to try and appease Ms Zoom .. a new "label" has been placed against her name ... so she looks like she's gone .. even though she is still in the database.
I would imagine that TB could, if he wished to expend the time and effort, remove her from the database in a "programming" manner ... but is it really worth the effort ??
