Title: If I may be humble and serious for a moment...
Post by: TheBoy on 11 April 2011, 08:29:08
And I purposely bumped the 'OOF Spirit' thread as well - a thread I had missed (along with many others it seems ::)) due to being quite busy over the weekend.

I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to 2 members, a certain lazytinker and a certain chrisgixer, who gave up some days of their time to come to deepest Brackley to help get the LPG kit fitted to TBE. Also, to tunnie for giving up one of his days off, as he was in Brackley anyway.

Another thread asks what the OOF spirit is. Its when people are prepared to give up their time and help others for no reward beyond that warm feeling of knowing you have helped.

So a very humble, sincere thankyou to all 3 of you.  I am touched, and honoured.

(and don't worry, normal service will resume soon).

So is it running on fart gas yet, and more importantly did you use it for work?

It runs fine on petrol. It ran fine on LPG when we breifly tested it yesterday, before disconnection the LPG liquid feed and removing the LPG fuse whilst we have a ponder on the next step...

As well as the tools I do know about, would that include one of those screwdriver bit adapters that come in those HellFrauds sets?

Another thread asks what the OOF spirit is. Its when people are prepared to give up their time and help others for no reward beyond that warm feeling of knowing you have helped.

...and curry ::) :D

But in all seriousness. Even in my fragile state it has been a really enjoyable long weekend. SWMBO commented last night that it must have done me some good (psychologically) because I seemed much more relaxed.

The slight fail aside, I've had a really enjoyable weekend and not laughed so much in ages ;D ;D

You are more than welcome for the help TB, it was worth the graft in the end :y

Splendid news - well done to the trio.  :-* 8-) :y

I certainly agree that this is but one example of the OOF spirit - but a very important one at that -  as this inclination to help in such a generous way places this Forum far beyond many others.

There is that... But it was really just a continuation of it ;D

I should add that my role over the weekend was predominantly as an advisor... I did manage to do a few little things but not a lot :( TB said he needed my brain more though ::)

About four weeks after working on the Omega (and using it most days) I found a 7mm spanner and 10mm socket in the scuttle tray! I couldn't work out if they were mine (thus they'd been there a month) or a friends (and been there two months)..

Whoops  :-[ ;D

Well, this one hasn't entirely been 100% successful either ;D

I can only assume its Gixer or me, we are the only common denominators ;D

It's got to be you! Gixer's was fine :P ::)

But in all seriousness, we were just unlucky :( Although it still caused a fair bit of head scratching and a rather late night drive home ::)

As we said though... The hard work part aside (for you 2 ::)), it was a great weekend and very funny ;D

I thoroughly enjoyed it - forgetting what we achieved (and sincere thanks for that), the laughing, the banter, and the evenings of talking utter 'dangle berries' and putting the world to right, made for a vey pleasant weekend.

Mrs TB says I'm grumpy today, I don't think I am, I feel on a high.  Though I am tired, and that bloody backup server *still* wouldn't build today, so maybe that got me on a downer ;D

I daren't lie in the bath today... Doubt I'd be able to get out either ::) ::)

Doctor visit was a bit of a waste of time really... Can you work? Best see you in 2 months then, hopefully you'll have made some progress on the private hospital appointment by then :o ::)

Then my GP after I asked for some help with the sleeping... Here's some stronger painkillers to take along side the ones you're on as and when needed and a certificate for 2 months ::)  :'(

The other aspect of power..... age  ::)

I may have a 2.2, but I don't need a can of WD40 over my body parts after a day working on car  8-)
