Title: Dissolve parliament.
Post by: Amigo on 12 April 2011, 21:15:14
How many elected governments have failed to clear up the mess left by the last & blamed it all on eachother & how long has this been going on for? How much longer can we keep going like this? I've seen 40 odd years of it since my childhood. Sack the PM'S & ALL the politicians, MP's Backbenchers whoever the break they are, let's clean house & get rid of all the young career politicians who've never had a real job, all the old duffers who are either asleep or guffawing at eachother. Make them work in Tesco checkouts or any other every day job. They cost a fortune, achieve nothing, ain't worth a light between them but live the life of Riley while we endlessly pay more & more for their charmed lifestyle. Time for a reality check.

Meanwhile drag our poor dying oldiers out of places they should'nt be getting killed in & let the MOD run the gaffe.

Sorry to all you politics fans but your heroes are'rnt doing too well are they?

Time for a sort out. Enough is enough. >:(

I think 99% of the population would agree with you ..............the other 1% who wouldn't would probably be lying cheating scumbags politicians.

The whole thing certainly needs sorting out, no arguing with that. How its done - well thats the hard part.
I can think of only one or two people in parliament who I consider to be honest people who take their civic responsibilties seriously.
David Davis, is the one who always comes to mind. If only the Tories had backed him as leader instead of Cameron. :(

I admit i don't have the knowledge or depth of thought to answer my own question.

Point is those who think they do can't do ny better & hav'nt been able to do so for some time. I'm just a truck driver but can see yet another election is'nt going to help, the last few hav'nt.

Time for a radical change, a whole new approach.

I don't wish to sound partisan (though probably am), but that is a spot-on comment , and the reason I support UKIP.  :y

get rid of all the mp's and have just 1 representing each county. and a board consisting of 1 member per borough who the mp answers to, if he doesnt get results for his constituency he can be sacked. save millions and he'll have to work hard to keep his job

The big issue would be the collapse of sterling and the markets the minute you did it.

Yes, at the very least - followed by a potential breakdown in social order.

Much as I detest how our Parliament has been usurped and sullied by wide-boys and gutless individuals, the dissolution of it without a popular leader or cohesive legislature to replace it would be unthinkable.

All very well put in a nutshell, a lot of people would/do agree with you.  But let's face it, even though it's time for a sort out, it'll never ever happen.

As for the UKIP party, their words sound good.  But like any other party (never mind the Red or Blue) that would get in power, once in then the wheels come off the vehicle quickly  ::)

Loking at MDTM's comment on our currency i accept my ideas are ill thought but we have a strong MOD & a  Monarchy. I admit i don't have the answers & am probably confusing idealism with realism.

I would'nt dare get into politcal argument with some of you any more than i'd try to change my own cambelt or have a streetfight with Mike Tyson but....

Endless elected governments simply can't do the job & are becoming the thinking mans soap opera to the point we can't even elect a proper one. The coalition has no hope as they were only put in power through desperation.

We need a BIG change, a whole new approach 'cos the old one's been broken for years now. :(

I'm as cynical about politicians as you, but UKIP does not consist of a majority from the "political classes". Whilst I once clashed with Banjax over his Eton-educated criticism of Cameron, I am now beginning to see that there was an element of truth in what he was saying. Not the "Eton" background specifically, but the old pals' act - the naked nepotism - that surrounds those who have never had a proper job and have had the goal of becoming a politician ever since they got out of nappies. They achieved their goals by knowing the right people, not by ability.
I sincerely believe, or I would not lend them my support, that the majority within UKIP's ranks are genuine people - and for whom the word "Bilderburg" is an obscenity. :y

I don't think they would let us down, were they ever to achieve power. However, I appreciate we're not talking science here, so it cannot be a certain fact.  ;)

As some one far cleverer than I once said ...

"It may not be the only system, it may not be the perfect system, but it is the best system so far devised"

I prefer our flawed system to that of dictator or military junta

Even if we were lucky enough to get the UKIP in to power, there is so much that they wouldn't be able to change because either our own Laws or Euro Laws wouldn't allow them too.
Current and previous monkeys that have been given power seem to be led blind into agreements that hurt our Country beyond belief with no way out!

Unless they were allowed to rip up all previous agreements and allowed to start fresh, they would be trying to run our Country with one hand tied around their b*lls!  :(

If UKIP were in power the first thing they would do would be to withdraw the United Kingdom from the EU. that is the single biggest reason I vote for them. Imo its absolutely vital for this country to get out of the EU asap, its destroying this country, and anything that the current lot do to(supposedly) try to put things right while staying in, is fiddling while Rome burns. ;)

I would agree with Nige re the MOD. there is no Govt. dept. which can match them for wasting money, Even under Nu Liebore, who wasted taxpayers money with religious zeal - the MOD were put on special orders by the treasury, insofar as - if they wanted to spend an amount larger than a certain figure in a single transaction, they couldnt do it without express permission from the treasury.

A few comments.

The military do not swear allegiance to the government but to the crown.

A dictator could not arise here.

Stoning and hanging, leave a lot please, the decent ones, the new young ones, the experts who are doing their best.

And I think the wrong David is in charge, the other is a self made man with good morals.

Oh and a ban on parachuted MPs, restricted short lists, women only what a blxxdy insult to women >:( >:(

The propective MP MUST be local or have good local connections.

No shortlisting. If they are good they are good, our first woman PM did it on her own merit.

Noone named after many legged insects, gentlemen round things, muddy colours, or witches are allowed. Noone smarmy is allowed.

I must have missed something...

.. and on the subject of age, half of the problem, IMHO, is that there are not enough more experienced MPs and ministers who have a few more miles on the clock and some real world experience outside all the BS and spin that is life as a career politician.

Being a PM / cabinet minister, etc. should be a job that crowns a long, distinguished and varied career not a stepping-stone for a forty-something on his way to the gravy train in Brussels. >:(
