To be honest.....as we have two spare rooms, I did hint to the wife about renting them out for the two weeks, after I heard the rental prices that were being charged. We are only 50 mins from London, so would probably get takers. :y
Just gonna word the ad now....Female only, must be under 30...lol lol lol ;D ;D ;D

There'll be plenty of aviation related businesses going under, I suspect, thanks to the utterly draconian airspace restrictions being put in place for this pointless event.

Still, it'll save me spending too much money on gliding.

I will be finding somewhere to hide for the duration. Nothing could possibly interest me less. >:(

What restrictions are expected, Kevin

http://olympics.airspacesafety.com/

http://www.nats.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/London2012OlympicsCASTConsultation.pdf

Basically a restricted zone from Reading in the West to Clacton in the East, North as far as Bassingbourne and South as far as Burgess hill from mid July to mid September. Access to the zone includes hurdles which makes their use by a lot of gliders, microlights and light aircraft impossible. Filing of flight plans in advance and following them, for example. Impossible for a glider dependant on the weather or a light aircraft at a flight school where movements are not known that far in advance.

Then a load of airspace around Southampton and Farnborough to cope with expected increases in traffic which will be a complete PITA.

All during the busiest couple of months in the year for small aviation businesses - i.e. the months that make their books balance.

Let the big boys rake in their profits from the olympics while the little guy suffers, as usual. >:(

Not sure mate being honest, but I would have a word with my friend if it were me explaining the stupid amount of money the tickets are. If anything like a friend they would offer to pay half. .
Just an idea.
You perhaps would be better buying a big screen, get loads of beer and watch it all at home for less  :(

.I live in East London and Cycle past the site every day on my way to work.

I had fond intentions of taking the kids to see stuff.
The ticket booking leaflet is here next to me and I just look and think - the Olympics aren't interested in local people coming at all.

I do think that the area is going to be a complete nightmare as there is only 1 DLR station (Pudding Mill Lane) that makes easy access. And they dropped an enormous clanger by building Stratford International station and then deciding that the Eurostar  isn't going to stop there.

Once everything's done and dusted next Autumn, three of London's poorest Boroughs will be left with the maintenance of this enormous site. Will they be getting any extra to keep it maintained before it's sold for £1.50 and becomes another Dome? I don't think so.

I wouldn't be surprised, despite the many proclamations at present if it becomes another Athens ghost town.

Hmmmmmmmmm..........................

Do you think the tickets might come down nearer the time in order to fill the stadium(s)?

The current prices may just be to cash in on folk(mostly from abroad)
