Title: Simple job
Post by: alfie on 29 April 2011, 15:39:13
Fuel Filter,easy or not?
My local garage offered to change my petrol filter a little while ago,so I took them up on it today.
You know that it warns you that you might get a face full of petrol when you unclip the filter, well thats what happened to the fitter,he was not well pleased.
Fitted the new filter, new clips....£2.40 for the clips,

Started cranking, bloodly hell petrol everywhere, leeking like a seive,,,,,,the fitter replaced the O ring in the female clip and that sorted it.

simple job that took about a hour.

An hour? It takes probably about 5 mins! How did the fitter manage a face full of petrol? Was it the first car he's worked on? :-/

Yep,still pressurized,he got the dogsbody to do it and he was useless. when the boss tried to unclip it ,it went all of a sudden like, and sprayed straight in his face, mostly his eyes.
The outlet side of the filter(female clip)was buggered by this time, they said that the "O"ring had rotted, replaced it and it was ok.
Not a very happy chappie at this stage, last thing that I said to him was the filter  straped back on,oh YES he said, got home and checked it myself,NO it wasn't.Think I'll have to find another garage.
