Not sure if it will be deemed too offensive, delete if you deem unfit.

I'll be taking the opportunity to play football tomorrow.

We are so going out tomorrow, if only to avoid the telly!

They weren't interested in my wedding, why should I be interested in theirs!

And who cares who designed her bloody dress! >:(

But thanks for the extra days holiday! :y

There wasn't as much media back then, I suppose..

Still, it beats football being on the telly.

I'm not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I did work with someone who was at Uni in St Andrews with William on the same degree and said he was a completely normal, decent bloke with no airs or graces and was as down to earth as he could be - and Kate seems a bit of alright - I wish the couple well, and I'm frankly getting a bit peeved with all the negative press and mocking - "10 O'clock Live" was particularly offensive...and I'm a big fan of Charlie Brooker and David Mitchell but the Jimmy Carr "Princess Di" skit was totally tasteless in even my opinion.

As Nickbat says on the music thread we do pomp and circumstance better than anyone, I might see a bit of the ceremony tomorrow our royal family is one of the things that makes us "Great" Britain so good luck to them  :y

You never saw that coming I'll bet  ;)

I'm all for the street parties - we have one here as soon as the wedding finishes (when does it start/finish?).

Street parties (whatever the occasion) are good for local communities. I'm lucky, where I live, we have a good community anyway.  I found out the other day, our road even has a website now :o

You know what Daz, I would watch if for it is history, and it is part of our great country's future...

...but the media's non-stop ramming-it-down-your-throat for the past 2-3 weeks has made me not only apathetic towards it, but actually made me really detest the idea of watching it.

Why have we had 3 weeks of discussing what the dress is like? Couldn't they make it a 30 minute debate?  I'm guessing its white, floor length, and covers the arms.  We don't need to analyse every bloody sequin?

I agree, they have spoilt any enjoyment and joy I may have had for the occasion...  ...all because they believe that viewers want to listen to it for weeks beforehand.  Even the most devoted Royalist must also be sick of it by now?

Agreed :y :y

Like I said, I've deliberately avoided as much of the "Build up" as possible. The wedding is a National Occasion (no matter what TB thinks) as she is the future Queen ;) ;)

As a couple, I think they are going to be very good for the UK and will do a lot of good for the charities that they support :y :y

It is a National occasion, its not a State occasion.  Therefore, the ceremony should be as private as possible, to an extent. Televise it, if thats OK with the couple, but the media's frenzy has, really, ruined it, as the media now feels it has to be sensationalist.

Whether she is THE future queen (note, she will never be The Queen) is not guaranteed...  ...it will take the deaths of 2 people before that can happen.  Hopefully, she can be the mother of a future heir.

Agreed that the media have ruined it, if you didn't avoid the hype, but the couple did agree to it being as it is ;) ;)

As for future... No, she won't be THE Queen, but she will be Queen by virtue of the fact that she is Married to THE KING! He will sit on the throne as King, perhaps many years down the line, but he will. I still wouldn't be surprised if Charles never does though ;)

The Prince of Wales will be the King if he outlives Maj. Thats Royal Protocol, and how it should be. At which point, the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will become the Prince and Princess of Wales, and next in line...

I think he would accept it if he was able to take the role, healthwise.  And he should. Thats his duty.

Of course, Maj is looking very well, and her mother lived a good, long life, though went downhill rapidly, as many 'healthy' old people do.  Here's to Maj having a long life :y

Must say it's a bit somber...? :(

 :PSurely, you couldn`t have expected a 'happy-clappy' service!?!? ;D
Hmmm, that reminds me of one of my niece's Christening - halfway through, a Gospel Choir snuck in, and stated the happy-clappy stuff....  ....not the sort of thing that normally happens in the depths of Norfolk...

Bet that got the locals talking ::) ::) :D :D
They were already talking - outsiders in their church. Strange outsiders at that - the brothers were not married to their mummy-sisters, and no strange bits of skin between the fingers and toes....

The NHS needs cuts. Its just too inefficient. So that argument holds no sway with me...

Doesn't need cuts just better management. sorry but having first hand experience from this had a cochlear implant fitted last year only had one as there was no funding for two so i still remain deaf in one ear, paid into the system for thirty years,

Nor me I'm afraid ::)

As for the Police on duty... It would have been that way wherever and however the ceremony had been held... The Queen of the Country plus all of the successors are in attendance, not to mention the PM etc ;) ;)

My own feeling is it actually needs to close. Completely. Then a decision made whether to rebuild it properly.  The concept is idealogical, but will always be difficult to implement in practice.

And NI is a stealth tax anyway.

For the 'average' wage, each working person pays approx £2000pa NI.  Each trust receives approx £1200pa.

NI is for far more than the NHS... Pensions are a far bigger draw on NI contributions ;) ;)

i think they have 5 managers to a bed...my view i think they should let tescos run it (laughable i know) but at least they can run something without making a loss..thing is my mum is in hospital at mo and the nurses/doc do a great job but they are rushed off their feet and they are doing a 12 hour shift..need more nurses/doc and less managers :y

What NHS cuts ? The NHS budget has been ring fenced to rise at the level of inflation afaik. wrongly imo. ;)

The wedding is a National Occasion (no matter what TB thinks) as she is the future Queen ;) ;)

Yes, that's Royal Protocol... But there is the possibility that he will not accept the title ;) ;) And, of course, that Her Maj may outlive him ;) She does look extremely fit and healthy for her age :y :y

If Charles has a breath in his body after mum pops her clogs he will be King. He wants it soooooo bad it hurts.
Personally I think the bloke is a rather moron, who should be in a home for the bewildered.

A wonderful occasion, spectacular and made me proud.

You see up here, Scotland, you are now a racist and a bigot if you fly the Union Flag. So its a refreshing delight to watch so many in full flow.

The vast majority of people geographically local to us want Scotland to be little south ireland.

I actually got goosbumps watching the spectacle.

Fair play its not everyones cup of tea but i liked it :y

The Union Flag is one of the great flags - it is a pity you're seen as a bit odd if you fly it up here, and of course the connotations in the west of scotland are especially unwelcome - i wouldnt fly it but nor would i fly an irish tricolour which apparently as a celtic fan i should  :o

My moan isn't about Royalty, or the event - us Brits do know how to do pomp and ceremony - its purely about the media coverage. They do it to death, then several steps beyond.

Well I spent the day in the garden and only seen the event when I came into the house occassionaly .
I have to admit it was a superbly televised event accuratly conveying the splendour and pomp of the ceremony.
Yes the media almost caused mental fatigue before the day arrived with their saturation reportage but I just didn't watch it on the run up.
Good luck to the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and I hope they show a bit more decorum and responsibility in their actions and position than the previous generation of Royals did , or didn't as the case was.......

I for one don't care how much the media over-did it, it was a fantastic day for the country, we don't get too many spectacles like this.

It's what put's the 'Great' in Britain.

I'm unashameably British and Royalist to the core.

It'll be going on for days, TB .. we had a week of analysis of what might happen, who might wear what, who might have designed what, blah blah blah. Then the day. Now we can have a week of analysis of what did happen, who did wear what, who did design what, and whether it will all last or if Queenie will have her killed off like her husbands mo..crap the men in white coats are here for me again.
