My home desktop is set to receive updates from m/soft as well as Mcafee and then install them.
It did the biz as regards IE9 when I got home today and I'm still undecided on it.
Everything seems to work the same speed wise etc, but a couple of niggles.
Why shift the favourites etc from the left side to the right side? Can it be changed back to the left? To long with IE8 and well used to it.
What happened to the option to skip back a few pages from the drop down menu in the top left corner? Now you only have back/forward arrows and no ability to select a jump of 3, 6 or whatever pages.
Google chrome? I dont want it and, previously, clicking the exit button on the 'install chrome' option made it go away. now, every time I go back to my home page, its there, right under the favourites etc buttons.
Any clues on how to configure IE9 so that it to all intents and purposes, functions the same as IE8?
Pain in the crack, thats what it is...... >:(

Not quite an answer to your question but Firefox have decided I didn't really want things where they were as well. So you're not alone.
-
firefox is changable though.
IE9 may be amendable in the menu's
Ill have a look, I dont use it enough though to spot the differences.
-
I quite like IE9... ...but then I don't use favourites
-
I havent looked as I dont entertain IE on my computers *spit*, but is there maybe a IE8 skin for IE9? That will at least make it look the same as IE8, even if you cant get the functionality back?

Right click on the favourites icon and select "Favorites Bar" from the context menu.

What other parts of it do you want to change?

Everyone says that about anything until they get used to it.

Vista is still cack - which is why Win7 has replaced it
Orifice 2007 is horrid - so download addon menus to provde Orifice 2003 menus

I do indeed, although to be fair it is common knowledge that Vista is one of the biggest pieces of doggy doo doo that was ever released (ME was another one) because they rushed it out of the door before it was ready.

Vista isn't so bad - it was a new kernel, so was always going to cause teething troubles, particularly from users using duff software (including some of MS's older stuff ;D) and especially hardware from manufacturers who aren't willing to develop drivers.
Win7 came out pretty much on target - MS did say they would try to release a new Windows about every 3 years.
