Title: Ferry bargains UK - France
Post by: M on 10 May 2011, 19:48:28
Hi all

Just wondered if anyone knows of any good ferry bargains going from the UK into France?

Prefer Portsmouth - Caen but Brittany appear to be the only operator running the route and they are £350+.........!!

Looking around I think I can get Dover - Calais for £140, and Portsmouth - Le Havre for £190

Staying in Normandy for a week in August, family camping and all that jazz......

Wondered if any OOFer can recommend somewhere to me or has any ferry discount codes.......??

Cheers

Martyn

If you do Tesco Clubcard vouchers you can exchange these 3 for 1 for some ferry operators..

Probably not the cheapest but we've always used Stena Line.

the crazy thing about this is, if you book the eurotunnel from europe,
you can book a day excursion ticket for 40quid, this gets you from france to uk in the morning and back to europe in the evening!! now im not saying i used to book this and just not use the return part but it was the cheapest way of getting over!! lol

Last used last year. They don't seem to keep a record and if they do, well you broke down. They won't sell you an on the day ticket after a certain time...................

They tend to get a bit grumpy if you do it from this end now though... Mind you, as long as you booked the return on the foreign website it might be OK :-/

Just booked a fully refundable open return Dover to Calais in August for  £99, its a a company based in Dover using Sea France, but discounted. Its also listed on ebay 270746396827. Seems good value to me, after hunting around, but best value is Tesco Vouchers with Eurohole :).

Yep, when we went Poland we sailed Norfolkline and it was lovely, very comfortable and cheap too....

Nothing really special from Norfolkline on their website at the minute though, I can use them if they are cheap enough to balance out the 250 mile each way run from Dunkerque down to Caen.......

Never been, dont want to go. I ve been all over the place, but no interest in France. I can have a free holiday in an apartment in the south close to the spanish border any time, but I would rather pay to go to Italy/Greece/U.S....etc, or just stay at home. :)
