OK, many of you now know that I am on the verge of buying a new meega.
So, what do I do with the old one: 2.5V6 CD auto saloon, 132k, rear blind, leccy sunshine roof, mirrors etc etc.
The main reason I'm buying a new one is because the old girl needs an MoT next month and she sure isn't going to pass:
These are her faults:
Pooped wishbone. Got a new pair in the shed, but haven't (= won't) fit them.
Pooped aircon compressor
Binding rear brake
Slight coolant loss (HBV?)
Usual rusty bubbles beneath window seals and NSR wheel arch.
She must know she's going because, in the last few days she has also acquire a 3" crack in the windscreen (lower passenger side - appeared last Friday) and the rear door trim has started to come away and now fouls on the front drivers door (that happened on Monday as my daughter got in).
On the plus side, she has plenty of life left in the cambelt and the cam covers are not leaking. She also has a pretty good Kenwood player with multi-CD changer in the boot, good Uniroyals, new front pads, new (last summer) receiver/drier, and new crank sensor. The alloys are good and all the toys work.
The chap at the place I visited reckoned he could give me a couple of hundred quid for it in p/x. That's all I am looking for, so I'll probably take that route.
What would YOU do?

Take the trade in, or, if you can be arsed, break it.
-
if your sentiment allows, break it, you`ll get an awful lot more. Trust me i do it for fun....or rather profit.

The only thing with Part Ex is that really you are giving them your car :-?
I think it is better the devil you know so i would be tempted to do the jogs on your car, other than that
you would get more than that if you broke it for spares and sold them on here or e bay...
-
Even slightly break it....
Blind £50
Alloys n tyres £50
CD and changer £50
Headlights, mirrors and rear mirrors £100
so you have £250 in the first hour of breaking before you get to the v6 ;)

Well if you have no part ex you find you can get the car your buying a bit cheaper, so do that then sell old Omega whole for £250 you then you in a way made more than 250 if that makes any sense.... Black Russians taking over now ;D

Cars always know when they're being exchanged!!!
Months ago the 'Daddy' exhibited an ignition fault that took ages to a) diagnose and b) fix. Then it blew loads of lamps, then c) the climate control took on a mind of it's own for a wee while, (but I reckon I know what caused that!) and d) the exhaust finally gave up the ghost when BD took delivery, (but that might've been more to do with heavy handidness when my tame mechanic removed the towbar.
Then! BD's old car's ignition system threw in the towel 20 minutes after I picked it up!!!
Definitely some karma going on I think!!
I can think on many other instances of strange issues occuring just before the sale, transferal or exchange of a car.
Wierd eh!?!?!?
