I've not posted on the forum lately. Sadly my mother died on Christmas day 2010, aged 79. I've had other, more pressing matters to deal with of late. :'( :'( :'(
Anyway, I thought I would pick your brains with a question. You've come up trumps many times before, and even helped with a central heating problem. :)
My question: Does anyone know the best place to pay in U.S dollars?. At the moment I receive a royalty cheque paid in U.S dollars every three months. This is paid directly into my Paypal account. They take the considerable amount of 5% for themselves..... :-/
Would it be better to pay a U.S dollar cheque directly into a British bank account? I know they take their cut too, but hopefully I can get a better deal than 5%, which seem excessive to me. This is a sizeable chunk of money.
I thank you in advance for your help.

getting it paid into your bank is the best way. You could open a USD account but there is normally charges for it.
If you give them your Swift/BIC code and IBAN number then it will pay straight to your existing bank account. its normally on your bank statement :y

You can pay it into my wife's US account. We'll only charge you 3% ;D ;D

Thanks, for your replies :)
I've only the choice of cheque or Paypal so I guess cheque is my best option. :y

Not sure if you can cash a cheque in dollars into a uk sterling account though. Take care and check before requesting. :y
