Title: More electronic gonks - more inattention...
Post by: hotel21 on 01 June 2011, 21:18:31
Just got this splurge in the e-mail.

I appreciate the potential need but, enviseage the scenario....

Doing 70 to 80 down the M6, the traffic alert tells you there is a hold up about 20 minutes or so ahead.  Great stuff, used that to my advantage more than once when on the M/ways.

Whats it look like then?

Start faffing away tring to get a 'live' update of stationary traffic on a 3 lane superslab, somewhere, then - cor, fek, bigger me - there it is in front and ABSABSABSABS....  Nearies..

Sometimes, I think info can be a tad TOO readily available....   :o   ::)

This is where the far simpler Trafficmaster is far superior IMHO..... As long as you know non-motorway routes.

I find the radio type alert on my TT works reasonably well but I always retain the choice to accept or avoid.

The live TV bit is just that.  Watching a stationary motorway traffic thingy, via a TT.  Whats the advantage?  Its either stopped or flowing - why distract yourself from whats a few hundred metres in front of you, FFS?
