Title: Swirl
Post by: miggy on 01 June 2007, 22:26:27
Can anyone recommend a good cloth to buff the polish off the car.
The miggy is pearlescent black, after a full clean and wax (Autoglym super resin) I have started to see swirl marks after buffing, I use a microfibre cloth (£12.00) so its a good un.

Any recommendations

Autoglym Super Resin polish is abrasive, hence the swirls. Try Turtle wax Black Magic this works realy well on all dark coloured cars. Or there is an anti swirl polish out now but i'm not to sure who makes it. Also don't polish the car out in the sun as it dries the polish to fast and makes it go hard which will also induce swirling.

Thanks for that Dazzler, I will ditch the autoglym next time and try the Turtle wax, thinking about it when I did the miggy it was very sunny and hot.

Cheers

i would recommend a good quality Carnauba Wax, expensive, but easy to apply, doesn't leave horrid marks on the mouldings and is very tough.

before waxing my miggy i use meguires quick clay, makes the paintwork really smooth, then i wax with carnauba wax and it looks fantastic

The company I work for produces various lubricants to the steel industries including auto manufacturing, Carnauba wax is one of the products we use to blend in with other products, I am trying to obtain some of this wax via the company before we blend with other things so I can try on the miggy.
