Trouble is, even though most of us are like you & can see though the scam, there are an odd few that fall for it. If they net just a few hundred quid, they've just won. I missed the beginning of it, but at the start of The One Show people in hospital were targeted by phone asking for PIN numbers of the cards/bank accounts. Two women on the programme had given the info asked & had a few £thousand removed from their accounts.

When I get these I always reply offering to teach them English Grammar & Syntax, at a suitable remunerative rate obviously! ;) Not had any replies yet ::)

I study this as part of my Ethical Hacker learning and you would not beleive how many fall for it. The trick is making the spoof site look authentic, and some of the clever sites give you the 'Incorrect password' message and then direct you to the real site, sneaky! >:(

I got the same message a few months back - forwarded it to HMC fraud - the "best regards"gave it away ;D

Yeah, with you on that one!
Whenever i get a fake link to a u/n and p/w page, I generally type some abuse in and send it! Gets it off my chest anyway!

For a moment... ::) ::) :P :P :P
I had that one and keep getting others, I just ignore them. I did get a very real pay-pal one once which when I checked was a scam but looked very much like the real thing, the way you can tell is that if it is real it will refer to you by name.... :y

I always delete my
porn history anyway, and only ever got to the website direct, not through an email link.

I answered the phone to a lad that wanted to help connect my phone line to digital. I listened, knowing that our exchange had been digital for years, & just said to him that he should just go ahead & do what he wanted to do. It wasn't quite that simple he said, it was going to cost me £6, and if I gave him my credit card details he could do it there & then.
He gave himself away when he told me to opps off when I refused to! ::) ::) ::) ::)
Funny thing is, he was obviously working with someone else, cos his oppo phoned me 10 mins & started the same spiel.

Phone calls....... ::) about a month ago I got a phone call from MBNA credit card......I do have a card, yes there is some debt on it but plenty credit and all payments made on time. :)
I was very defensive and told the guy in no uncertain terms that I had no intention of giving any information on the phone... :y After a bit of a discussion it turned out to be a genuine call from their fraud department, an unusual payment had been made.....to 02....
I normally top up Miss Vamps phone at the rate of £10 or sometimes £20......I had just changed from Contract to payg and topped up my phone with £30 and they picked up on it.....can't complain about it really and I did have some apologising to do... :-[ :-[

I've had a call from them too. Within 5 mins of having my top-up to O2 rejected - my fault, I oppsed up - MBNA fraud were on the case. All resolved amicably! :y :y :y

Anyone who falls for the tax refund email must have been living in a cave for the past year. It's been on the news at least twice.

The concept of money travelling from the inland revenue to me is alien enough that it would immediately be regarded as a scam. ;D
Even if I didn't notice that the grammer and speling 'ain't like wot it shud be. ;)
