Title: Factory fitted car phone.
Post by: Turk on 08 June 2011, 00:59:27
I use a Bluetooth set up myself, but I was just wondering whether using a hand held 'O/E' car phone is legal whilst driving ?
It's not a 'mobile phone' as such, but it's mobile in the sense that it's not a fixed land line.

still illegal, using any 'hand held' device is now illegal, including original car phones.

Its a stupid rule, my iPhone can be my iPod, so i can adjust that while driving!  :-?

As Tunnie has said - except in very specific circumstances. :y

Legislation:

A handy wee Q&A from DOE (NI) - but essentially the same as mainland regulations:

Electronic stuff can be used if it is properly mounted.

Note, bluetooth phones are a grey area, unless mounted ;)
